Rico was a worse character. That's about it off the top of my head.

And I would think GoW's gameplay and design probably had a lot more to do with its sales than who was swinging chains always pissed off. A good character can make a good game even better and in some cases even make up for shortcomings elsewhere. Kratos is just a shame character imho.

There are other, arguably better Hack & Slash games out there that all sell way worse than GoW, the reason this franchise has risen above the rest is the story and the spectacle, Kratos is definitely part of that. He symbolizes God of War.

i love kratos and all his shallow anger.   in a game where killing everything and everyone is the point of the gameplay i don't necessarily require a "deeper" character.  he is a pretty epic over-the-top character and that's why i like him and why he fits in great with GoW's epic boss fights.

okay fine,.. not everyone wants that.  fudge them.  GoW sells great already so don't change what isn't broken.  GoW without kratos is like halo without master chief, uncharted without drake, or metroid without samus,.. it's not what the market wants to play.  don't listen to the dumbfuck haters,.. they will hate it regardless.

I remember how disastrous was to play like Raiden in MGS2... the hell of controversies it generated.

Konami & Kojima never did that again... they even used Snake clones for all games after that.

That is why a Luigi game is called Luigi and not Mario.

But hey I'm not all against the ideia with a spinoff / title change...

Kratos needs to be in GOW, because GOW is about him.

but from the counter point: SM can feel free to do a new character in a new universe and that would be cool too,...  just don't call it GoW.  give it a new name and brand it a new IP.  i would actually be plenty happy with that.  Just don't brand it GoW if it isn't a GoW game and kratos is the God of War.

actually, i agree. i mean fudge it, if they want to make another GoW i dont want it to be the same thing. but a GoW without Kratos just wouldnt be a GoW. i know i am contradicting my self, but thats exactly how i feel.
