QuoteNow, the story takes a decidedly dark turn at this point. The site that leaked the images quickly found itself at the mercy of someone who took it upon themselves to hack the site and leave a message warning the site to stop leaking stuff. Strange but hacks are certainly not unheard of. This is where it gets really weird: the site just vanished like it never existed. The site's domain name is now for sale and if you go to the URL for Nerd Leaks you end up on the Go Daddy website. The site's twitter account has also been deleted, almost as if someone wanted to hide themselves. It goes deeper, too. The link to the site was also posted on the popular-yet-brutal N4G site by a user named Azog. That user's account is no longer active on N4G. They've just gone. Poof in the wind.

Now, many have taken it to mean that Sony has flexed its muscles and has digitally murdered Nerd Leaks for leaking what is supposed to be a secret project that the world isn't supposed to know about. We can categorically tell you now that is not true. There have been hundreds of leaks in the past (we've been at the start of some of them, sorry, Sony!) and this has not, at least not in our memories, happened before. It's all the more likely that the site owner got spooked by the initial hack and decided to up-and-run. Still, bloody weird, innit?

So the site gets attention for an article.
The site gets hacked.
They then turn around and close the site.
Delete the twitter corresponding to the site.
Delete the user account who posted the articles to N4G.

Why?

because GoW is no longer a hack and slash,.  it is a digital espionage game and this is all a brilliant marketing ploy.

seriously, people need to stop feeding the leakers.  rumors are not facts and more importantly they are less fun than announcements.

I think it's a really elaborate hoax.

But it seems weird to sell your website for a hoax.

I am really loving these fakes.

Like the NX controller, so cool that people can make really good looking controller fakes like that.
And it's not really confirmed to be fake yet, (if it ever "will" be), but these GOW fakes are cool too.

The concept art kinda seems odd, but the whole closing of the websites and stuff just feels cool like it is some sort of mystery.

I doubt this is fake, simply because it involves a verifiable artist.

The concept art is too good to be fake and in high quantity.

Unless you believe an artist wasted 6 months of his work to fake GoW4 concept art :D

The artist is real.

BTW there are 40 concept art images.

If you want to see all.

Likely not fake. As Etho and Legend pointed out, this involves an actual artist having a lot of his concept art work pulled from a password protected site. Art that just so happens to have a lot of Kratos in it. On top of that, this leak comes very soon after Shinobi drops the quite obvious tease that GOW4 is going to be about Norse mythology. No one came up with such an elaborate hoax mere hours after that.

I was mostly wondering if this fact had been verified.  As it turns out, it's very easy to check that.

Ignoring that it's been verified, it's not like it's something that needed hours.  Someone could have been drawing these for a while, because some people have been interested in GoW Norse for a while.
Timing isn't an issue.  But like I said it's been verified to come from the artist's site, which makes everything after seem really weird.

It wouldn't be the first time something seemed too good to be fake.  ;)
I've wasted more time than that doing things!  :D

But yeah, it's been verified.  But uber weird.

It seems very pretty. I'm not sure if I like that, God of War should be dark and gloomy.

Still, I don't care how they make it as long as its as enjoyable and as high quality as the other games.

It's kinda hilarious to see all the reactions to the character in this around the web, are people that uncreative that the only thing they can think of here is that SSM took the Kratos from the first games and put him into the Norse mythology without any regard for how much sense that would make?

I'm not necessarily against the "sense".  I'd just rather they do something else.  Kratos' story is finished.  While I wouldn't mind another greek style game cause I love greek mythology, but just start fresh.  Make a new protagonist to take on Odin.

I think that's kind of his point.

I am not really sure.  He could mean either way depending on how you interpret what he's saying.

Dude, what I'm saying is that they could simply go the Zelda route, have this character visually look like Kratos but essentially be his own thing, that I think is currently a way more likely explanation than that they simply shipped greek Kratos to the nordic countries.
