New Studio "First Strike Games" founded by multiple former 343i Multiplayer Leads - NeoGAF

QuoteSeems like 343i lost a coupple people, that had some roles in the Multiplayer development.
 Kevin Franklin:
QuoteAs Multiplayer Design Director, Kevin shipped Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Microsoft’s largest and most extensive investment in multiplayer ever, featuring a 24 player PVE/PVP multiplayer mode, and a 4v4 multiplayer Arena experience built for eSports.

Brian Lemon:
QuoteBrian enjoyed 7 years at Ensemble Studios working on Age of Empires and Halo Wars. His most recent position at 343 Industries was Lead Multiplayer Producer on Halo 5: Guardians.

Doug Barnes:
QuoteA software developer with a passion for multiplayer games, Doug led the engineering efforts on the 4v4 eSports multiplayer modes of Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One. After launch, Doug led the multiplayer games-as-a-service team focusing on monthly releases to boost player population and engagement.

---
Jeff Hilbert (former Founder and Co-CEO of DDM , www.ddmagency.com) joined them, too:
QuoteJeff is recognized as one of the game industry's top business development executives and has been involved in securing in excess of $750,000,000 in capital for development studios.  He has extensive experience structuring Publishing and Distribution deals having worked on projects with the top Publishers and Distributors in the world.

What do you guys think? Huge loss for 343i? I'm actually interested to know what they are up to and if the Halo MP will see some significant changes again.

QuotePhil explains not all of Microsoft's Xbox One games will also be going to PC and vice versa. Microsoft decides if a game is suitable for one or both platforms and publishes as they see fit. Case in point, Ashes of Singularity is unlikely to hit PC because Microsoft does not think it is suitable for PC. We of course already know they think Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza, and Gears of War are suitable for both platforms.

LOL!!

QuoteThere are games that Spencer believes work fine on both platforms: he cited Forza 6 as an example, and Quantum Break and Rise of the Tomb Raider are clearly other examples.

Either bad journalism or BS.  Here's another one.

Didn't Tomb Raider release on PC?

I'm not seeing the problem with these quotes  :-\

It's just they acto as if their game and their choice to release it there.

Also saying a game dosent fit pc is horse shame. Some games don't fit consoles, that I can see. But pc? Na he's smoking crack.

the-pi-guy

Is it MS's decision to release it on PC?
Is MS deciding to release it on PS4?

Legend

Well it is MS decision to not pay for exclusivity  ::)

It really is fudgy mind blowing listening to the head of a gaming division even IMPLY that a first-person shooter doesn't fit PC. Especially when that same division was jerking itself off to Titanfall back during launch. Even more of a riot considering Bungie was making the original Halo for PC before Microsoft bought them. THEN had the first two games released on PC later. I just... dude I fudgy quit. The shame sandwiches people are willing to eat when being served by guys like him. Unreal.

Gears of War 4 has microtransactions for cosmetic loot crates - NeoGAF

QuoteProbably not shocking given it's 2016.

Developer The Coalition has confirmed upcoming Xbox One shooter Gears of War 4 will include purchasable cosmetics items. Players will be able to purchase crates filled with cards that have different levels of rarity, and offer cosmetic changes in-game.

Quote"I feel like that paradigm of cards is really clear to understand for collectibles, like the ability to collect things. We had weapon skins and character skins, so that idea of collecting cards is just easily understood. It felt like it added some engagement in terms of its not the, 'Oh, I like Tiger Stripe. I bought Tiger Stripe. I'm done. I don't need to engage with that system anymore. There's no need for me to hang around.'""That's I think what we owe the player, is that feeling you get, much like ... I think Hearthstone is brilliant at, that idea of the glow, and the voice, and the excitement about like, 'I want to open packs, and I want to be a part of that engagement. I can't wait to complete today's quest so I can go to the paramedic with pack of cards.' I think that feeds into that engagement.
"I think that's the same thing we're trying to do here. The notion that everything is earnable just through play means the only reason you would ever use real money is when you want to accelerate it. We're going to be balanced where you're going to be constantly getting crates, or enough credits to get crates through the game, so it really is just about your choice," Fergusson said.

As long as it is cosmetic only, that'd be fine.
Don't think the game is coming along good though.

I absolutely hate how they're doing random unlocks. That's the worst of the worst way to handle what microtransaction rewards you get.

The new gears 4 trailer has really grown on me. I still think the animations and designs are fudged up, but for a person that cares about these characters it wouldn't matter.

Also the video has passed 5 million views. I think this game will easily outsell Halo 5 if the reviews are OK.

Like 4 years ago, I would've said you were drunk.  And everyone would laugh at you for this comment.
But, today is a different day.
And quite frankly Halo 5 did awful.
