The resolution is so horrible though.

Unless you're playing the game in 3D or have a cool environment simulated around you, real TVs would look a lot better.

You won't notice the resolution difference in a suck small screen close to your eyes.

The immersion will make up for graphical features that you will believe it looks better that what it is.

It's actually the opposite. The screen being close to your eyes is what causes the effect.

It feels more like 360p. Totally OK to watch, but you're not watching for the graphics.

Using RGB OLED makes a pretty big difference, though. Each pixel has all 3 primary color subpixels, which not only improves color production, but sharpness, too. When using pentile displays, like Oculus and Vive, you will also run into the screendoor effect.

Here's a pentile display on the left and an RGB display on the right:

In this example, the RGB display is on the left and the pentile display is on the right:

I don't mean PSVR resolution is horrible. Back since before morpheus I've been complaining about pentile in Oculus.

Resolution is a problem with VR cinema in general. 4k isn't even enough to simulate a 1080p theater screen.

QuoteThe cinematic mode will allow you to play existing PS4 games and use video features, and the player will be able to select small, medium or large sizes for the virtual screen. We were able to try the feature during Sony's event, and the software places the viewer in a black space watching a floating screen; there is no surrounding environment. Nearly all UI elements of the PlayStation 4 will function in this mode, although Sony didn't detail which features wouldn't be available.
PlayStation VR will work with all existing games and video content in 'cinematic mode' | Polygon
