Looking at my prediction on GAF, I underestimated the PS4 by 30K, XB1 by 9K, and Wii U by 29K. Eh, not bad though it won't help improve my prediction ranking >_<

Very strong month for PS4, that's a huge lead. Sounds like far cry and cod did some decent numbers if 3rd place was almost 400k.

I'm interested in seeing the splits between platforms for a few games

Quote from: ZhugeEX on Mar 11, 2016, 04:45 AMWhat surprised me most is how GTA V can sell almost 300k in a month in 2016.
GTA V is a beast. It will sell like this for at least another year.

When GTA VI comes out it will have a monster launch

I'm confused about sfv reactions. It sold more than RotTR with 1 less week, no BF, and sold on 1 console.

The game sold only about a quarter of what SFIV sold in its first month, making a comparison to Tomb Raider here is completely pointless and serves nothing but the console war. SFV has a chance to have a long tail but Capcom has to bring the game up to snuff quickly and work to let people know that they are doing that.

I guess it is safe to compare it with PS3 version... it did about half.

It's very comparable. Their situation has been compared for a while. They are similar in sales potential too. SFV also has the sales burden of not releasing in holidays

SFV will also cross 1 million by the end of it second month on PS4 like TR as well.

That doesn't make them comparable. The only level that you can compare these two games on is on the level of both being 3rd party (timed) exclusive games on one of the two platforms and like I said the only reason that one would make that comparison is fanboy battleship. The two games have completely different genres, launched with completely different levels of competition in terms of what launched around them and were received vastly different by consumers.

I'll say it straight, anyone that's trying to paint either SFV's or RotTR performance on PS4 or X1 as good or bad by comparing it to the other is a complete fanboy.

for all we know it crossed 1 million in its first month.  we know data for one region for one platform and physical only at that.

europe generally sells about the same at us so double the number to 400k right there.
not sure if we have japan numbers but i'm sure it sold a few units there too.
rest of the world as well.
+ at least 15% in digital
+ whatever it sold on pc

i'm really tired of the "insert any game" flopped rhetoric  this gen has had.  things are not all that comparable to last gen anymore.

Exactly, we don't know the PC numbers.  It's possible the game is already over a million, and will probably reach Capcom's target or get close to it of 2 million by the end of the month.  The other thing people don't realize is that Street Fighter 4 has had 3 re-releases, which Street Fighter 5 will not have outside of "game of the year" additions with the DLC on disk which may or may not get made.  Plus most of Street Fighter 4's sales came from 20 - 40 dollar price point when Super released.  Which is probably when the rest of the sales will come from.  The game will probably top at 4 million, but considering the incentive to rebuy the game again and again won't be there, that's a solid amount.

Still about SFV sales...

SFV first NPD (PS4): ~205k
ROTR first NPD (XB1/360): ~200k

ROTR WW first two month (XB1/360): > 1m

I'm inclined to think SFV (PS4/PC) WW sales is something 0.5-0.7m for the first month.

I believe Capcom will reach 2m shipped as of Mar 31st.

Edit - Fixed ROTR numbers are for Nov + Dec.

Just wanted to point out that this month almost had higher weekly numbers then Destiny month.

Destiny September: 538k/5 108k a week (300k was Destiny bundles)
 Feb 2016 ~405k/4 ~101k a week

I forgot I had a chart for this:

Emphasizes what a great month for PS4 this was.

Ps4 massive domination. The gap this year is already 250k, if Sony are aggressive this holiday like last year. We can see a very big gap this year between the two consoles

Lots of variables when it comes to Sony, will gts release? Will horizon release? Will they release a slim version this year with a price cut? Will they just have a price cut? How will PSVR do?

All those can have a big effect on sales. So it's hard to predict sales now.

Also, that CoD bundle is doing wonders

I really don't think Microsoft can really win this year can they? I mean I would say April is their best shot with QB but who knows.

A while ago, Verendus and Kagari hinted that there will be FFXV and KHIII LE PS4 bundles down the line.

Problem with Quantum Break is that it's a singleplayer game, which limits its appeal to a userbase that is mostly multiplayer-focused. Add onto the fact that it's also going to PC, people with PCs who were planning to get an XB1 for QB no longer need to buy the console.
