Quote from: Horizon on Feb 23, 2016, 12:54 PMTearaway was sent to die. SCEA did not care about it. SCEE somewhat cared about it but it was hardly marketed really. It really should have been an August and anything after was sending it to die. Plus I feel like the audience which might embrace this game (the family gamers) are not on a console which still costs £300 or $350.
Tearaway Unfolded really felt like a title sent in to help fill a gap in the list with little concern for its sales. No matter how good it was, it was never going to get much attention. There was something about it that just felt too far out there for the current market. Like, it had this Katamari vibe to it and I'm pretty sure that franchise is dead. For now, games that are that kind of eccentric don't cut it. If you make one like that right now, you're developing a game that has a very tiny market.

I agree. It was arguably MM's best game but I feel like people want more game in MM's game than just the creativity aspect. Dreams might face the same fate if they cannot captivate core gamers as I am sure casual gamers won't be bothered about it.

Fallout 4 apparently sold more digitally day 1 than physically. Pc version probably had a lot to do with that but that's still huge!

1.2m sold on steam day one.

That said I think console retail sales was less than 1.7m day one... that means with even 20% digital you will have digital > retail.

Well 25% or 30% digital can make digital > retail with retail at 1.8-2.0m.

So it is not that impressive when PC is 100% digital.

Kerotan

Yeah not as impressive as it sounds but it's good for publishers.  Digital sales are more profitable for them and they'll be glad to see the digital share increase.

I feel like I'm the only one that didn't enjoy tearaway that much. Graphics were great but it was lacking with everything else.

Plus I'm still confused if content was cut or not. I remember E3 presentations involving mechanics and areas missing in my playthrough.

I really need to replay it now that my expectations are so low.

Huh, I guess SFV numbers could be worse. Also publishers could have made an effort not to release SFV, Attack on Titan and Project Setsuna in the same week.

ethomaz

SFV sales were really poor in Japan.

Dunno, I expected worse after what I saw in Comg.

Raven

At this rate, the PS4 will pass the Wii U in Japan by July.

SFIV debuted at 193k.

Comg means nothing for the sales being poor.

Edit - Fixed with the correct data.

Dr. Pezus

Still shortages of WiiU?

SFV flops. Will it get ported to other consoles?

It'd hard to say, depends on the contract between sony and capcom. If Sony's investment is large, I highly doubt it.
