Lots of business stuff has changed.

David Braben on Arena and the future of Elite Dangerous - PC Gamer

Horizons is now an add on to the base game. Also CQC is now a separate product for $7.50.

No clue how to play the game through steam any more.

My flight stick will be here today. Excited to try it!

Mmm_fish_tacos

Well I've forgotten how to play this game mostly.

So it seems Elite Horizons was removed from steam and doesn't exist anymore. It shows up in my library as "purchase."

Instead Elite Horizons is DLC for Elite Dangerous. I seem to own that on steam now. This is much better and how it should have been in the first place, but horribly handled by Frontier. What a clusterfudge.

I passed by a planet and a UI elements came up that I hadn't seen before. Does that mean I can land?

BTW amazon has a warehouse deal on the x52. 114 for a damaged box. I did the same thing but mine was a return and said it had slight damage. But I couldn't find any on the unit and it felt like it had never been removed for the box. Considering they're going anywhere from 80 to 100 bucks on ebay, by the time you pay shipping you're not saving anything. And you have amazon backing it, which is much better than dealing with ebay.

You can only land if you buy the Horizons expansion. However without it, you're still free to enter orbital cruise. This is just flying high above the planet surface.

The reality is flight sticks are way too expensive for me right now. I need to wait till payday before I can afford them.

Dev Update (18/02/2016) | Elite: Dangerous Community Site

Next patch brings significant changes to Unidentified Signal Sources. Currently they randomly generate around you based off a timer. Literally the most efficient thing to do was just set the throttle to zero and wait a few seconds. A random USS would be generated at your current location so you could drop without even moving.

Now USSs are to be generated based off location, and their content determined by location. To find a specific mission, you might have to fly out to a certain planet and search around it. You can also now scan the system's nav beacon to find the locations of these USS.

Wow really cool looking when they jump.

No they are jumping like normal.

It's just 53 players that ventured together to the center of the galaxy and recorded this jump.

Okay. I was going to be very disappointed.
