No we don't. Just look at all the typical content it is missing. Even if they polish the gameplay before launching, it was clearly rushed. Being rushed doesn't have to mean there are lots of glitches or balance problems.

Quote from: Legend on Feb 15, 2016, 07:54 PMPhased content sucks imo for everything but free to play. I'm glad reviewers are pushing back against this growing trend.
I'm in love with the SFV model.
If they can put 10 characters per year for free the $60 will be like $200 or more.

Quote from: Legend on Feb 15, 2016, 08:39 PMThen do early access.

Sell the game and let people buy the game, but don't treat it as the finished game.
It is a finished game... you can play matches.

Early access devs don't treat their games as finished games, you're right. They treat it as games they don't have to finish.
SFV is finished; everything works and runs as intended. Now look at Ark and how awful it still is after this much time in early access. I have a steam addon that is telling me almost 3M people have that game? My condolences to all of them.

Let's try to see what is missing...

Usual Arcade Mode with 7 random battles? Well I don't believe Capcom will implement this mode in SFV.

Think a little about that... they have everything done so to put 7 random battles with a boss in the game is the easiest thing ever... why they didn't put it in the game? Because they didn't want... that is not rushed but what they focus today and how they want to sell SFV like a service.

Quote from: DerNebel on Feb 15, 2016, 08:13 PMDunno, Driveclub and Splatoon have shown that this system works for keeping player engagement and what is the difference from a consumer perspective if the content that's coming down the line is free anyway? When I look at SFV now for instance I see it as a game that I don't feel like buying right now and that I will wait for until the June update most likely, but that doesn't mean that I feel the game should have been delayed until June. I mean that wouldn't have made a difference to me anyway aside from the fact that I might be able to get the game a little cheaper in June now, for people that are fine with what the game is putting on offer right now however, it would take the possibility to get the game now away and give them essentially nothing in return.

I'm fully in favour of reviewers docking points for lacking content when they are reviewing a game, that's a simple risk that publishers are facing with this release model, but I feel overall it's not a bad model at least for certain genres.
It's great for keeping communities alive and active. It's the primary reason I'm doing free DLC in VizionEck.

I don't like for consumers how it's often used as both a bandaid for the game at launch AND considered free post launch. Either SFV is lacking content but hey at least it has free DLC to make up for it, or the game has everything but some content was delayed. End result is it's still a $60 game "worth" $60.

I do like how you can buy more characters with in game currency.

That's a problem with that specific developer, not the EA model.

I had an odd moment of clarity where I realised it was possible you weren't talking about VizionEck. Then I started mentally reviewing all past comments like this and wondered if they were never about VizionEck, but I was egotistical or something and saw my game in every conversation.

I'm pretty relieved you really were taking a jab!

Waaaay more than anyone else!  (Except that one guy.)

What if VizionEck actually released in 2013 yet nobody noticed?

I bet you'll hate VizionEck. It has math in it.

Awww shucks, what kind of horrible person puts math in video games?

My hype has died!

MC keeps increasing and OC keeps decreasing.

Odd.

Funny MC has the 5/10 review while OC not (at least last time I saw).

Maybe it is something with the "weight" in MC.

Drive Club still didn't get re-reviewed, despite being the best racing game right now.  Same is going to happen to Street Fighter.  Hopefully it won't affect sales.  It more or less needs 3 million (Assuming it needs Street Fighter X Tekken sales).

On the bright side, Driveclub managed 2 million sales well less than a year after release and that was rated much lower and with greater online issues by comparison. It was also a PS4 only title which means its potential install base is lower. Street Figher 5's state of lacking content was pretty much expected by anyone paying attention. It also helps that Street Fighter is the biggest fighting game franchise. Mortal Kombat X did very well over the last year despite having atrocious netcode until recently.
