Depends if MS do a new price cut or better a Slim model.

That will increase the sales for some months.

Quote from: Xevross on Feb 14, 2016, 09:38 AMOh my god! Thank fudge for that! Very good month for PS4, not so much for WiiU and XB1.

I noticed that these numbers are based on PS4 being 20% up, which is a little shady. So they could still be off.

Perhaps someone with access to numbers could give a little hint on how close they are.... :D
CosmicQueso hinted a few days ago that cumulative sales between the PS4, XB1, and Wii U are ~400K.

OT: The gap for January was much larger than I expected. I wonder if SFV can help the PS4 achieve an even bigger gap.

Probably.

I mean it's not like SFV would hurt the gap.

Yeah, the reason why I'm not 100% sure is because Far Cry Primal also comes out in February, which will help both consoles. However, Sony does have marketing rights to Primal just like with Far Cry 4.

so are these numbers accurate? and thats a pretty big gap, if PS4 continues down this path for the rest of the year we could see a pretty big gap between both consoles for 2016.

This may be the year I thought would come for the X1 in the US. Losing the previous holiday, then going into another long dry spell with only one noteworthy "exclusive" to carry it into the next holiday season, while trying to compete with a console that is the same price and has game after game releasing for it throughout the year. A number of which are higher profile than almost anything the X1 has releasing this year or beyond. I think this is the year that PS4 runs away with it.

Globally, if PS4 can pick up steam in Japan with the big Japanese titles this year, we might see the ratio climb to 3:1 by this time next year. If we also see the PS4 pull well ahead in the US, that is.

For the most part. NPD said that console sales are relatively flat from last January, only that the way those sales are distributed is drastically different.

I tallied up the number of exclusives both consoles have for the first half of 2016 and the contrast is rather stark. The XB1's exclusive lineup is meager whereas the PS4's is more plentiful and diverse. It is true that turning Quantum Break (and other previously full exclusives) won't kill the XB1. However, consumers who originally wanted to buy an XB1 for its full exclusives no longer have that reason to do so.
