"On Monday we announced changes to Microsoft Studios including  Lionhead  and Press Play," a Microsoft representative told us via email.  "As part  of these changes, we did a site refresh and removed  several logos for  older studios and projects that have been  consolidated during the past  several years into other Microsoft Studios  and teams. As games launch  and new projects come online, we  routinely make these kinds of moves to  ensure we have the right  development support on the right games."

 So I guess some of these studios merged with other studios?

Yeah, I saw that.

Probably just removed since it made MS look like they were in a bad situation.

So in other words, some of these studios haven't actually been around for awhile now and we're just now finding out. It also seems like some people jumped the gun on listing those studios as they never even amounted to anything before being closed. My bet says some studios didn't even exist anymore by the time we found out about them. Does anyone else find it odd that Decisive Games is not listed among Microsoft's studios officially despite having been claimed to exist awhile back?

Yeah the lack of transparency sure isn't helping them at the moment. Either they have big positive announcements saved for E3 as a result of this, or the truth is just as bad as the rumors.

Exactly.

On the one hand their big hitters aren't going anywhere, so maybe it won't be that bad.  On the other hand, their big hitters is pretty much all they have now.

Today with the news I thought I'd never here with Live being opened up to cross play to all platforms. And after listing to his Keynote on Xbox One following the iPad style model with new iterations releasing more regularly and full forwards compatibility so you never lose your library. I'm not meaning to gush but it's clear there has been a change at Xbox with him, well done Phil.I hope this thread is taken in the light hearted / a little tongue in cheek way its intended
