Can anyone who has a Gaf account correct this dude on his UC information?

NeoGAF - View Single Post -  brand new Uncharted 4 trailer at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens

He says the series hit 8 million one month before UC3 came out and from that derives that UC3 sold 5 million in its first month and that the game sold 9 to 12 million units of the 21 million units the UC series had at that point, even ignoring that all of those numbers are shipped, that's still an absolutely ludicrous assumption that's working with something like 50% growth rates between single entries in the series. I think the start of his math being so out of whack is that he puts the series at 8 million only a month before UC3s release even though that number was announced after UC3s reveal in December 2010.

Sounds like ps4 is winning December so far quite easily.

Just read your post. Your viewpoint on Battlefront looks spot on. Things blowing up from what I've heard

(nod)
Sounds like a healthy December for the two systems, and at least from our end, I'll give the PS4 the edge, even if they end their promotion today, because the sheer momentum difference was so big...
And if the drop off is big enough in the first day or two leading to Christmas, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony extended the promo up to the 24th, just as a "Aren't we awesome?"
Sony seems to be in a place this year where they hold all the cards and they've been exceptionally strategic about the timing and placement. Even with some of the awesome deals that MS has thrown down to improve the value adds leveraged with the XB1, it doesn't create a new momentum image, it doesn't generate a new upswell. Sony has had these practically laser guided deals one after another that have had specific effects and will linger, from what we can see. I imagine that for MS, it is at least encouraging that they've managed to maintain a consistent buying base for the holiday season and not just be completely eclipsed, because while they didn't pull what they did last year, they remained in a great position for their numbers.

So the Bone is down YOY@BB? Is that what I'm hearing? What were last December's results again?

Last year was full fire sale status for an extended period of time, with special offers on top from Black Friday and scattered throughout for the XB1... But I don't recall off the top of my head if it seems to be selling *slower*. The PS4 by comparison to last year is definitely doing far better, but the XB1 just doesn't seem to be selling as well as the PS4 for that comparison. I'll try and see if I can go back that far for inventory comparisons, but it might be hard to get an exact metric for my personal access reports. Also hard to get time to do that kind of digging, but I'll try and check.

Abdiel, would you say the Xbox One's performance is better than last year? I think it was you that said the Xbox One started to fall off around the middle of December last year, so if a comparison can be made, that would be appreciated.
Xbox One did 1.3m last December.

As above - I'm not really saying it is doing worse than last year, just not as well as the PS4 is doing right now, and the PS4 is killing it. It could be like November, just as incredible of a month, and the only reason it doesn't seem quite as 'stellar' is because it looks worse in comparison to the chief competitor actually standing up tall for the holiday sales.

That was another thing I was wondering about.  Abdiel sorta seemed to be referring to the month in the past tense.  I know Final Saturday Before is the biggest day of the month, but has the vast majority of the shopping been done at that point?  What fraction of the month's sales will come after that?  Is most shopping done early enough to call the month at this point?

The last week before Christmas is very hit or miss. It's desperation mode for a lot of folks, where people are grabbing last ditch items and gifts, which is why this last weekend is such a big deal, though the weekdays themselves are usually not quite as good (still busier than entire weeks of sales in the off seasons, but that's not the point).
So with regards to the past tense, that's because to most of my management discussions, we have most of our primary money for the month already locked in. There's two more major days to really look forward to, which are the two days after Christmas, when people try to immediately cash in on gift cards and such.
Gift cards are powerful motivators, seeing a chunk of the cost of an item waived, or assembling several cards from various people to buy of single items... it's always chaos. But at the same time, a lot of those gift cards go towards very varied products.

seems like PS4 is having a great month. im gonna go ahead and predict 1.6 million for it. and 1.3 for the XB1.

So looking at it now:
Battlefront seems to have had a resurgence(good for it)
XCX sold 180k in just France and JP(plus 10k from UK and 150k from US)
you got 340k from those countries.
Should be inching close to 500k soon(probably already there).
Anyway 800k lft is my bet for it.
I mean itll beat the first game(which is ungodly overtracked on chartz I mean there is no way a niche game such as that sold 400k at Gamestop only).

Also I decided Im gonna do Media Create HW predictions every week.

COD FOR CHRISTMAS

21/Dec/2015
'Call of Duty: Black Ops III' becomes the 6th Call of Duty game to claim the coveted Christmas No1 as the Top 5 are all non-movers this week.

There were three real contenders this year with newcomer 'Star Wars Battlefront' looking to dethrone perennial Christmas chart toppers FIFA and Call of Duty. Sales of Activision Blizzard's popular shooter jumped by the highest margin out of the three, up 33% compared to Star Wars' 20% increase and FIFA's 24% jump in sales. However, 'Star Wars Battlefront' does take the honour of EA's biggest selling title this week, holding on to No2 ahead of 'FIFA 16' at No3. A price promotion on 'Fallout 4' was not enough for it to crash the party. Despite sales climbing a healthy 44%, it remains at No4. 'Minecraft: Story Mode' (+11%) has a solid performance at No5 meaning that 'Assassin's Creed: Syndicate' (+20%) has to settle for a move of one place up to No6 – the first time an Ubisoft title has charted outside the Top 5 in a Christmas Chart week since 2008.
'Just Cause 3' (+0%) drops one place to No7, while 'Grand Theft Auto V' (+21%) and 'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege' (-2%) are both non-movers at No's 8 and 9 respectively. A jump of one place is enough to ensure Sony's 'Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection' (+10%) re-enters the Top 10 at No10.

Top 3 games all on PS4, interesting.

Uncharted still holding strong too, was never expecting it to do better than Halo in December. I guess that's the power of bundles.

Yeah, looks like EA should be hitting that target after all.

I wonder if it can make it to #1 next week thanks to the movie

Battlefront seems to be tracking similarly to how Battlefield 3 did and that game sold 17 million copies.

I don't think Battlefront will do the same sort of numbers but to me at least it shows that the 13 million target should be achievable.
