Dec will close the gap a bit. Also the lead up to and around UC4's launch

GAF mods confirmed the guy.

Yup, looks like in the initial agreement they couldn't even talk about the other versions of the game before the Xbox release. SE wanted to talk PS4/PC versions, after the lackluster reception/pre orders of ROTR, to try and at least build some anticipation for the other versions, hence renegotiation, and delaying the PS4 version was the cost. My guy said SE didn't mind this as the delay meant it avoided UC4's release.

SE is so dumb.

Still quite impressive considering it's a remaster collection.

Should've tried to find a better alternative or just stuck with the original terms.

Either way they destroyed the franchise.  Tomb Raider didn't survive Fallout.  It sure as hell isn't going to survive Uncharted.

Seems in line with chertz numbers, several factors really hindered the growth that this could have been for Metal Gear.

going up against uncharted is way better than going up against Destiny 2, GT6, Mass Effect, Battlefield and CoD. they should have just released it at the end of April/Beginning of May or in February if the original deal allowed them too.

releasing in April/May would have been a good period because usually those months are low on releases, next holiday tomb raider will be buried.

I actually think they should have released it in June.  When there's nothing.

June would have been good too, but holidays? releasing it in september or anytime after that is just going to kill it.

SE are really over estimating how strong the Tomb Raider brand really is.

Yup, Square's run by idiots.

Square released the 2013 version in march though, just like they did with Type-0 HD, Thief released in February and the last Deus EX released in August just like the new one will as well after being delayed from early 2016, every entry in the FFXIII saga released early in the year outside of Japan as well, sure Just Cause 3 is a holiday release but even that avoided the big games by launching in December. What I'm trying to say is that SE isn't a publisher that's shying away from avoiding holiday releases for their big games and that I'd in this case more point fingers towards the party that has been beating their drum about the biggest lineup in history using Tomb Raider, that is historically known for throwing almost all the releases they have into the holiday season and that, when asked said that there wasn't a better release week available for them because of Halo, CoD and Battlefront indicating that they couldn't even fathom the idea of not releasing this game during the holiday season.

Microsoft iced this one up.

I think you guys are putting to much emphasis on release date. Doubt it would have done better any other time.

Sales are for PlayStation platforms and include sales for MGS2 Substance and MGS3 Subsistence. Bundles included but digital and re-releases are of course not.
The MGS5 number of course includes all platforms.

Tomb rider isn't some small unknown niche game. It's a well known and established franchise. It should be able to hold its own as a major player in the industry.

The xb1 has 9m people in the US alone. Only 180k of those wanted the game.  this includes gifts as well. People just didn't want the game.

The release date is a scapegoat
