Instructions: Read the subject, respond.  Important thing to understand about the title is that it is made up of 3 parts.  The first part is a tricky introduction meant to convey, not necessarily that this thread is for kids, but to humorously point out that most users here grew up with parents.  The second part is the question pertaining to the parents.  Understandably, there will probably be someone to try to answer with a yes or a no.  Should that person read the instructions they will know they have done wrong, and will be shamed among their peers.  The purpose of the question is to simply delve into whether parents were strict or not with video games.  Now the last, and quite honestly least important part of the title, meant to give thanks for the idea that is being used.  It is not an inherently new idea, but it is the one that prompted me to make this thread.  Bravo.

my mom hated the violence of it..  at one point she even rented us a game from a christian book store.. lol

The title made sense, but after reading the op twice I'm still not sure what's going on.

Anyway, my parents were pretty supportive although neither cared for games themselves. Grandma had a ps1 so all us kids would play that when we visited. Didn't have a memory card though, so we got incredibly good at speed running Spyro.

My parents actually played video games themselves, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 were pretty much in the family longer than I was.
For a good portion of time, they stopped playing though, but made more time for it with the Wii.

My family literally put 400+ hours into Mario Kart Wii, with 3 or 4 player split screen.  Brother didn't always join in.

What are you talking about?  I explained everything thoroughly in detail.

They hate them to an extent...They feel it's just a waste of time and they don't see the purpose of them. Honestly up until recently (When I got a job) all I could do was watch youtube videos or read about games. I knew so much shame about certain games even though I had never even played them just because I would watch Twitch streams or read up reviews on the game.

If I ever asked my parents for a game they would straight up tell me  no and and say the usual shame like focus on school and whatnot. Well I got a job a year and a half ago and now I can pretty much buy any game I want (Some without them even knowing lol). I'm trying to convince them to let me buy a PS4...I actually showed them the 15 minute playthrough of Uncharted 4 on the big screen TV and they were super impressed. They had no idea games looked like that nowadays lol.

The only games my parents play are mobile games. Dad plays Clash of Clans and my mom plays Candy Crush or some shame like that.

But yeah I absolutely LOVED video games but I was more of a window shopper when it came to them. Very rarely got to play them. Only reason I even got a PS3 was because I told them it was a blu ray player  ;D

Edit - Funny story...I had a couple of games lying around that I had gotten from relatives/friends of my parents and back then I wanted to get God of War 2 so I convinced my parents that somehow I could trade in all my old games at EB Games (Gamestop in Canada) and they would give me God of War 2 for free...I had like 5-6 games and when I went there the total value of my games were like 5$ lmao. When the dude at the cash register told me the total worth of my games I was so god dang disappointed...Walked away with nothing lol.
Legend made me remove this. Everybody riot.

Yeah, that's why you should never Gamestop.

On another topic.  I love the fact that the OP scared away some posters.  :D
Riderz is a boss though.  He posted all up in this dog.

Well my parents don't like video games and I almost never got them to join in. In fact, that's how my entire family is...almost. Only my brother would play with me sometimes but that was only specific types of games like car games and GTA.

My mother bugged me a bit more about my game playing but it never got excessive imo. What saved me from them banning me from playing or something is that I always did very well in school and I didn't hesitate to remind them of that when they asked me if I didn't play games too much lulz
