When will a $400 4k 60FPS PC be possible?

When will we be able to build a $400 PC that can play your average AAA game at 4k and 60FPS?

Examples of games would be GTA 5, MGS5,  Batman,  witcher 3, Black Ops 3, Battlefront 3, Fifa 16, Fallout 4, Rocket League.

So the equivalent versions of these games but in the future.

Do you think by 2020 it will be possible to play your average AAA at that level?

I don't think it is possible today a 4k@60fps with a single GPU in modern games... that tells you a lot.

As far as I'm aware there isn't a gpu that can do that, at least with those types of games.

But who knows what the next year will bring, sounds like good news.

Yeah but how long until it becomes a 400-500$ PC? 5 years?

Moore's Law is still going strong, so I don't think it will be too far down the line at all.

I don't know how much extra power will be needed compared to what we have now but at a guess I'd say it'll be less than 10 years

There's a lot of difficulty in giving an answer.

-When will a PC play 4K games---- they can right now.
-When will a PC play those games in 4K---- right now.
-When will a 400$ PC play those games in 4K----I'll say 5 years probably is a reasonable estimate.

-When will a 400$ PC play brand new big budget games in 4K high settings.  --- No idea.  Graphics get more intensive, so this can get harder.

-When will a console be able to able to play 4K games?  --- Probably next gen.
-When will all games on console be 4K?  --- Same reason as the fourth one, no idea.

There's supposed to be some good GPU improvements coming up in the next year, much better than we've seen in a while.
Whether improvements continue or whether those improvements are as big as expected, is the big uncertainty.

There's a lot of variables that make this hard to know.
-How will developers take advantage of hardware?
-How will Nvidia/AMD proceed in advancements?

The two big factors are an unknown right now.

Well graphic settings are pretty important. Are you wanting 60fps 4k at any cost, or are you wanting it at max settings?

At max settings it'll take a long long time, while at low settings it's potentially possible today.

Cute Pikachu

Not for a while since the rigs to have that are pretty doughy.  8)

I wouldn't say max settings.  If max settings were 100% I'd say 80%.

At the end of every year we should note how much a 4k 60FPS and 4k 30fps pc costs.

We'll get a good idea of how much this pc drops year by year.

You're currently looking at a $2000 PC so I'm confident within 5 years it will be around $400-500.

Well I think that will never be possible if you're thinking about running AAA games that are recent at the time of comparison. Are you just talking about running currently recent games at that setting (so we'll check Battlefront, Fallout 4, Witcher 3 etc. in a few years)?

No,  the equivalent of those games in the future.  So like fallout 6!

How does a $500 PC play a game like the witcher at currently?

Probably not well.  Witcher 2 puts the fan on my CPU to max and crashes my GPU.  Though, it still runs smooth at max settings.

Well then, considering inflation will happen and that this has never really been possible I don't think it ever will
