Quote from: Raven on Oct 02, 2015, 09:17 PMYeah but think about how many characters there were in SF4 overall. I don't think having four grapples is that big of a deal when you look at the number of Shoto or near-Shoto characters the game had.
Other than Sakura, they were put in there as fan service more or less.  Like Akuma and Gouken are tied down to Ryu and Ken.  Dan is a joke character and isn't to be taken seriously.  Sakura is in when Dan and Blanka are in.  Plus with this game, it looks like only Ryu and Ken are making the main roster.  Like, they Laura should have been... never mind I Just realized she's jiu jitsu.

There should be a thing on mobile where if you hit "move", "merge", etc.  That a little pop up thing comes up and asks if we are sure.

We might get an announcement of a new character tomorrow at New York Comic Con. There has already been off-screen footage released showing a new stage set in New York. There is supposed to be a panel with a bunch of information happening some time tomorrow.

Street Fighter 5 update at Comic Con should be happening in about 30 minutes.

So it wasn't really that exciting. The big reveal was the new stage set in New York. According to a forum poster on Shoryuken, Ono said that he has heard clearly that people want to play as Alex from Street Fighter 3 so he will be talking to the team about it back in Japan. The roster is indeed only going to be 16 at release but there will be more added over time and they will all be unlockable in-game if you don't want to pay for them. There is also a special edition PS4 with Ryu on the drive cover.

There was a leaked list of characters before Ken's reveal.  It has been spot on.  List of All Characters (Possible Leak) - Street Fighter V Message Board for PlayStation 4 - GameFAQs
Alex is in the list.  So's Urien.  Like, I doubt they would revive Charlie by Urien/Gill's cult without either (Gill/Urien) of them in the game.  I'm guessing Ono is just trolling Alex cause they're not ready to show him off yet.   Probably going to try to overhaul his character.  There's already 3 grapplers in the game.  Making 1/4 your characters essentially the same wouldn't be the smartest of ideas.  So they probably haven't finished making him.

The problem is the roster is only 16 to start, there are only two characters left to reveal, and one of them will be brand new. So you can't have Alex, Urien, Juri, AND Dhalsim as returning characters for the initial roster. It's only going to be one of them. Something to keep in mind is that list did not mention Necalli, who was revealed after Ken, nor is it the only supposed leak list with characters like R.Mika and Karin in it. Those were highly requested Alpha characters. Leakers have also taken to spreading incomplete leaks or even some false information within those leaks to protect themselves and/or their sources. It would be far from the first time that a leak turned out to be partially true even if it looked spot on at one point. Just look at all of the "leaks" surrounding the next WoW expansion. Some information was spot on and some of it turned out to be bogus with each leak.

The only way that list works is if there are more than 16 characters in the initial roster or the list is not talking about JUST the initial roster. Which if that's the case then surely there has to be more than that coming down the road. That is what people are mostly debating right now. Which characters are in on Day 1. Those characters could certainly come in as DLC down the road and with the obvious implications with Nash I can't imagine them NOT bringing back some Street Fighter 3 characters to tie things together better. As far as Alex goes, if he's not Day 1 or early DLC, it becomes next to impossible to prove he was ever intended to begin with and that he wasn't added later after fan feedback. Ono does like to troll, though...

You're assuming "Sim" is Dhalsim and not Necali

1. Ryu (Announced)
2. Chun Li (Announced)
3. Bison (Announced)
4. Charlie (Announced)
5. Birdie (Announced)
6. Cammy (Announced)
7. R. Mika (Announced)
8. Zangief (Announced)
9. Sim(Necali) (Announced)
10. Juri
11. Karin (Announced)
12. Ken (Announced)
13. Urien
14. Alex
15. Laura (Announced)
16. Rashid (Announced)
17. Zen
18. Boss
I added the characters announced till that point.  It's possible they were still figuring things out and Alex ended up getting cut (Background character).

"Sim" is short for Dhalsim. That's not me assuming anything. That's what he is referred to for short by a lot of Street Fighter players. Even if you could argue that I'm assuming, your assumption is entirely baseless by comparison. The names are not even close to identical. I know how that list looks. I know it's been pretty dang accurate. I'm not arguing that. I'm arguing that if the initial roster is indeed only 16, then that list is either inaccurate or it's including characters beyond the initial roster which no one cares about nearly as much right now. I'm also cautioning you on taking that list as gospel based on what I've seen in the past of people leaking false information among accurate information to protect their sources. By the way, that list is missing Vega which is a fairly large omission considering he was announced after Ken and Necalli. Proving that the list is not 100% accurate because it totally left off a character that would be announced later.
