Phil Spencer: Sony buying third party games, all to do with money, not market share

Phil Spencer is full of shame. I really don't like the guy at all. I had this opinion before this quote, btw

He's not doing bad, per se, but I didn't like how he overhyped MS's conferences. They were decent, but nowhere as grand as he made them out to be. His comments on Sony getting 3rd party exclusives just make me shake my head in disapproval.

He has a point when it comes to western 3rd party games. They sell well on both Playstation and Xbox, so it sucks when one userbase is deprived of the game or certain content indefinitely or for a duration (*cough* Tomb Raider *cough*). However, Japanese games are a whole other story. The XBO is doing next to nothing in Japan and XBO gamers just don't care about Japanese games. For instance, the XBO version of FF Type-0 sold under its initial shipment in the US. Say what you like about how it's an HD port of a mediocre portable game. However, it couldn't even do the bare minimum and this is a game with a highly notable title.

Yea it buys them but the price for each is heavily based on where the publisher thinks is has a larger audience and by how much lol market share plays a huge role

Now that is huge news. The cod crowd may make the switch to plasystation now. Previously those gamers who just played cod and perhaps a fewbother casual games almost always chose Xbox. All this PlayStation bias may change that.

Hang on, this means the most annoying person in the world (major Nelson) won't be hosting the cod world championships anymore.YES! I'll definitely be watching this year.

That is a really big deal. Sony did that with the Fighter Game Community (FGC) with the console exclusivity of Street Fighter V. Now, it has captured the competitive COD fanbase, as well.
