Anyway I will buy it on any platform it is announced for except 3ds so I am fine.
At no point was Dragon Quest 9 looking to be on the PS3.  The DS was getting Dragon Quest port, spin off, and everything, you'd have to be daft to think it wasn't coming to the DS.  Monster Hunter was coming to PS3, but then was cancelled.

In an interview with news service Reuters, Square Enix President Wada Yoichi commented that there was a possibility that the new entries in both the DQ and FF series would be released on both the PS3 and Xbox 360

edit: Wada specifically referred to FFXIII/DQ IX, no gaiden/side entries
Furthermore, Wada also commented that whether or not Square-Enix releases the above titles on both platform or just one will be determined by next year's E3

I noticed a discrepency in the Reuters and Yahoo! articles
Yahoo! specifically states "FFXIII" and "DQIX," where the original Reuters article states "the newest series in the FF/DQ franchises"

No, Razer just moneyhatted DQXI and it'll be Ouya exclusive :P

Not long now.

Tomorrow we find out if home consoles gaming is saved in Japan.  If Sony get this added to their ever growing list of Japanese megatons they will be in territory where they can reasonably bid for monster hunter.

I believe an online monster hunter game for ps4 is being developed so at the very least they should be trying to get a major spin off.  that would literally save consoles for 10 more years.

Love the countdown in the thread title.  Very nice feature whoever developed that.

I wonder why they would bother with Xbox? Seems a total waste of time... I guess we will see the platforms soon enough! If this releases in the West on ps4 I'll have to buy it, DQ IX was too good.

Well, the main debate I have seen (on GAF) is whether DQXI should be on the PS4 or 3DS. The game will flop on the XBO since historically, the majority of the previous games' sales come from Japan. 3DS advocates would argue that putting DQXI on the handheld will net SE more money. PS4 advocates argue that Horii has more ambitious plans for DQXI and they can only be achieved on the PS4, which is the strongest platform this generation (excluding PC, of course).

As an owner of both consoles I'm in the PS4 camp. I'd rather play a fully realised game with better graphics on a big screen. It'll still do very well on ps4 and will also give it a big spotlight on the west

Yep...

This article was before either console launched...  4 years before Dragon Quest 9 even came out.  heck the DS was still that garbage model that no one was buying.

The person on 2ch who revealed DQXI's subtitle says the game is PS4/3DS multiplat. Sal Romano on Gematsu says it could be a Ni No Kuni type of thing. Square has actually done something similar before with Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.
