New Dragon Quest game to be announced on July 28 (live stream)

Both Nintendo consoles are essentially zombies.  Nintendo isn't supporting the Wii U anymore and I doubt Square Enix will in their stead. Nintendo's next console is your best bet,  but no one knows what it will be and I doubt Dragon Quest 11 will be ready for it. Nintendo is just stuck with an awkward release schedule.   The NX will most likely miss Dragon Quest 11's release.  It will also cost more money than it's worth to port it to the Wii U with out a ps3 version being made. Like a ps3 version will be a good base to make a cheap port to Wii U vs porting from ps4.  So it depends if a ps3 version is in the cards. Even then, the  Wii U version will have to compete against the ps3/ps4 version. It'd be possible they'd lose money on that port. Unless it's Wii U only,  which I reasoned is unlikely.

Maybe it was built for wii u first then they ported it to ps4 and upgraded it?

The attach rate has to be really high for the Wii U version to be worth the money. DQXI can possibly go on the NX, but Nintendo doesn't want news of the NX coming out soon for obvious reasons.

It's possible.  It really depends what Horii wants.  Bells and whistles, or possible extra sales?  Even a Wii U port to PS4 won't look as good as a game built for the ground up for PS4.

So if they ain't gonna announce the nx and dq11 gets revealed next week I can't but see it coming to PS4. When they finally announce the nx they might announce a port to it then.  

Seriously though Nintendo is better off sticking with handheld only and becoming a 3rd party developer for home consoles.

Keep in mind guys that DQ9 was looking to be ps3 and we know what happen to that.
Anyway I will buy it on any platform it is announced for except 3ds so I am fine.

Well, the PS3 was a pain in the dog to develop on and Sony wasn't doing well, whether it be the entire company or the Playstation division. This gen is an entirely different story.

I do agree but wii u and ps4 will have similar userbases until mid 2016 probably(all depends on Splat and MM vs P5 and MGS5).

I really don't expect SMM to be a big hardware seller. Game looks great and looks fun, but it does not look like it'll capture the same magic as NSMB.
