Maybe it can do decent if advertise right?

It's about time Nintendo bundles Amiibo with the wii u.

Yeah Japan is looking good for ps4. Over on gaf earlier this year all the talk was of wait until may,  June , July and August.  Ps4 will be back to last year's numbers .

Instead it's doubled those numbers throughout those months and without the best line up. This week batman and a bloodborne bundle was enough to ship 24k.

Next week when we get numbers it will be up YOY despite last year's big launch.  And the rest of this year will be good too with a few heavy hitters and the usual western hits that seem to be gaining traction.

Ps4 numbers will be excellent for 2016/17/18 as some mega hitters release.

Sony really should break the bank and get monster hunter back as a psv / ps4 game.  Would sell millions of hardware especially if they released it as a ps4 exclusive and then released a G version on the vita a year later.

It's literally the last box they need to tick apart from getting a yokai watch spinoff onto the ps4.

Regarding vita it will hang in there with minecraft.  Kancolle kai will give it a nice boost before dragon quest builders potentially gives it a second life.

Exciting times in Japan are beginning for Sony.

Xevross

Wow that PS4 performance! I wonder if it can hold 20k+ with the bloodborne deal.

Aura7541

Nice! The PS4 is about to exceed last year's YTD sales in Japan :)

Cute Pikachu

Great for ps4 and wii u as both will soon pass their #s last year :)

Ethomaz in response to your comments over on chertz!

If ps4 can sustain an average of 15k a week from now until the end of August I think that's exceptional and paints a bright future.

I honestly thought it would be struggling to stay above 10k as of now so that gives me hope.

There's another title releasing on ps3/ps4 next week called sengura or something so maybe it will help it keep the momentum above 15k for another week or two.

I also wonder if the second half of August will receive a boost from mgs5 and the start of August has a golden week like holiday.

It's funny how I find the low months of media create the most exciting.

Ps4 prediction for Japan is now 8m plus providing the console lives for 8 years without a successor.

ethomaz

@Kerotan
Even if PS4 do 10k in August per week... last year it did 5k per week.

It's quite the coincidence that both will likely exceed last year on the same week.

But it's good to see.

Yeah your prediction is looking very good.  Hopefully it exceeds your expectations .

Anyone know who that vena guy over on gaf is?

The guy just can't give the ps4 credit and continues to downplay it no matter what.  Wish I'd an account on there to talk some sense into him because everyone else just ignores him.  Maybe for the best.

Vena downplays everything. He's a MC thread usual, much like Nirolak, he makes some good points from time to time.

Quote from: Kerotan on Jul 22, 2015, 01:14 AMThey won't stop until they sell exactly xbox one hundred in a week.  That is it's purpose.

Their loss is a much needed gain for Sony.  Sony will gain a few 100k (possibly close to a million)  former 360 owners that buy mainly western games like the witcher,  batman,  cod,  star wars,  destiny etc.

If the xbox one improved on the 360 growth you can bet ps4 western games in Japan wouldn't be doing so well.  Sony were wise to nail down many western games as Japan exclusives .

Kill off the xbox before it even gets a chance.  All the millions Microsoft invested in the xbox throughout the 2 previous gens all firmly down the drain.
Forgot to mention here, I can't imagine many people in Japan only owned a 360 last gen.

Yeah good point.  Maybe the total boost from 360 western gamers will only be around 200-300k but still significant when these people are hardcore who buy a lot of games.

On vena I guess he's just one of those negative people who can never be positive.

He's a pick and choose type of guy. He finds maybe 10% of stuff positive to say, and 90% everything else.

Remember the "what's an xbox?" video and most people said that'll be the tone of the gen? I thought that it was an over exaggeration but in the end it turned out to be true

The real surprise is it's true in many countries other than Japan.
