"No Man's Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy".

How do you play?

Mining: your laser gun can cut through crystals and dig massive holes. You then pick up the materials in a similar fashion to minecraft. Then all of these elements can be crafted into different things. When you come back to a planet after a while, it's "healed" and can be re-mined.

Trading: most planets and solar systems have stores/depots that you can sell your mined items at. You can also buy items from one store, travel a few trillion miles, and then sell them at another for profit.

Combat: space lasers can be used against practically everything. Animals, ground, robots, ships, etc. Most planets have a security force that doesn't like when you mess with nature. Killing an animal will give you a one star rating, causing the sentries to start attacking you. Attack back, and you're up to 2 stars. Works exactly like GTA.

Go to the center: something mysterious lies at the center of the galaxy. You can try to get there. The closer and closer you get, the more alien the worlds and creatures become. Also your chances of interacting with another player get higher.

Explore: with billions of planets per galaxy, there's a lot to see. Go out and find stuff you like and name it what you want. There are also lots of artifacts and secrets scattered around the universe.

New. NMS is IGN's game of the month, meaning every day they're releasing new videos about it. Every prior game of the month has released only a few months later.

hmm good to know, it would be great for the holidays

do you know if there is a list of igns monthly games from the last few years? it would be fun to plot an average for how ong it took till they came out

Yeah, They said it's coming. I'd imagine you'll find resources and trade, Collect data and stuff like that. The faction update went live a few weeks ago, I still need to check that out. I just wish I had someone I could play with, I think it would make the game more fun. Plus I no longer game on a 120 inch screen so that's kind of a let down with the game now. Vr can't get here soon enough.

Particularly compared to most people.

But then again, I'm more excited about VizionEck than most people!
