Quote from: the-Pi-guy on Sep 04, 2025, 02:56 AMI think a lot of the criticism about DS2 is very exaggerated.Another big difference is that there aren't any shortcuts or anything like that in Dark Souls 2.
But I think the game goes against a lot of how the other Souls games are designed.
I would say on some level, Dark Souls 2 is what people expect the Souls games to be like.
Most of the time in the Souls games, you are faster than the enemies, with a few exceptions. Everything tends to be spaced out. You're usually able to run past / away from enemies.
This is frequently not the case in DS2. It varies by level, but there are some areas that go out of their way to punish you for running past enemies, there are some where it's basically impossible - Iron Keep has a lot of those large metal turtle things that block an entire passage and fast knights.
Iframes are attached to a stat.
The game in general has quite a few quirks.
It's still very much a Souls game, but it feels rougher in a lot of ways.

QuoteMicrosoft's next-generation Xbox will be a Windows PC with a console-like experience, allowing users to access their entire Xbox library and run Windows applications. It will feature a TV-optimized interface, support for Xbox Game Pass, and no multiplayer paywall. The new Xbox will also be backward compatible and run all games the Series X|S can run today (This means all the OG Xbox back compatible games, all the Xbox 360 back compatible games, all the Xbox One back compatible games, and all the current and future Xbox Series X|S games), and utilize AMD's new silicon for enhanced performance.

I'm not sure how to describe it. I've played slightly different RPGs. I feel like I don't like the UX, and I'm not sure why. Maybe I'd prefer it on PC.
Quote from: BasilZero on Oct 26, 2025, 06:23 PMI think it'll be a dual boot type of device, which is probably the best thing that they can do.The problem is, the games will be windows games either way. No dev from this point forward will make xbox ports. Instead it'll just be verifying and optimizing the windows build for this hardware.
Dual boot as in making it one half Xbox only and the other half Windows.
But its likely going to be Windows boot with Xbox emulated (which I'm assuming its gonna be a app specifically only for Windows).
