First time this has ever been seen. Just pretty dang amazing that pics of other solar systems are going to become normal over the coming years.

I still did some manual edits though.  I couldn't get it to understand i wanted some space left empty for me to add the text i wanted to add.  As great as "block party" is,.. its very generic.  I wanted to add my party details manually.

Brilliant. It is funny just how mind bending amazing AI is, like even beyond many sci fi dreams, while simultaneously it sucks so so much.

We're all going to look like idiots once the boundary between easy for LLMs and hard for LLMs becomes clearer.

Not really Marvel related, but I thought I'd put this here - and I might put more stuff in here.

YouTube has been suggesting clips about the Superman movie.

David Corenswet/Superman seems to be a genuine DC fan. Whereas the people who play Lois and Lex aren't - he seems to be the only one who knows who Martian Manhunter is.

And he convinced James Gunn that Superman needs the trunks.

I'm very excited for the future of DCU.

make me a image I can use for my annual block party invite.

I got to something useable a bit faster this year.  still took longer than when I did Google image searches to cobble together some "clip art".

it's still easily identical as AI though.  not as creepy as last year but it has plenty of artifacts if you look closely.
Try gemini 2.5 flash. It's not great at making a picture from scratch, but it is pretty good at editing one.

Took two seconds and I could tell it to make changes as desired.

A look at Hapax in a debug view.

Each "slot" in the walls is human sized. This is a very very massive atrium.

I don't have any "kitbash" tech implemented under this new system yet. So these walls and floors are completely empty, just a foundation for things to be placed on.

The awesome incredible thing with this new system is that every single wall is its own asset. They all share a common design at the moment but not a single vertex is shared. This will allow me to have plenty of variety, every slot could have its own shape if I wanted, but primarily this just allows the walls to be curvy without looking stretchy. Every single slot is the exact same width even though wall chunks vary significantly in width.

This was my test I set up the other week. Each wall chunk has a different size and a different curvature, yet the slot remains unchanged. That slot can be a door, a window, or any other feature, and it just looks like part of the wall instead of looking like a funhouse door.

I can do the inverse too and make it have constant thickness along the edges of the wall chunk.

This way the same system can be used for arches and other elements that span a gap.

I spent far too long fighting with my previous system, trying to make it not feel like the world was melty or made of rubber .

So now it's off to the races to fill these environments back in with kitbash details. And then I'll need to dial in performance and see how much the base PS5 can give me. The amount of triangles in the first image is nothing, literally a joke compared to what even the base PS4 could handle, but I need to generate them in real time as the player moves and turns the camera. So I have no clue yet if this system will be cranked up or cranked down.

I played DS2 quite late after thousands of hot takes about how bad it was reached my ears/eyes.

it was fine.

I really didn't think it was all that different from the rest.  my only comment is all of the "areas" in the other games felt like they could coexist in the same universe.  in DS2 everything felt like something from soft would make but some felt thematically like they didn't belong in the same game together.
