QuoteWhile this price increase is a necessity given the current global economic environment and its impact on SIE's business, our top priority continues to be improving the PS5 supply situation so that as many players as possible can experience everything that PS5 offers and what's still to come

wonder is Xbox will follow suit.  with the strength in the $ they should be feeling it even worse.

predictably era is livid.   apparently not one of them noticed the cost of food basically doubled in the last few months...

..nope, no.  inflation does not exist and this is isolated to just "arrogant Sony".

why do I go there anymore.

First time ever this has happened right?

This exact time in PS4's life it got a price cut.

With exchange rates:
Canada: $503
Mexico: $754
Europe: $550
Britain: $570
China: $627
Australia: $558

Some of these prices I believe would include a 20% VAT.

well the quest just got a price increase too.   MS might be willing to eat the costs because they are soo big and all and probably want to earn market share but they are probably in the same boat as sony in that they are losing more $ per console sold today than at launch.

i dunno.  i might be wrong,.. the $ is up like 20-30% compared to other currencies right now.  that means american based companies get a big discount when they import stuff but that they lose a lot of revenue when they sell.

True with quest.

I think during a "normal" generation this wouldn't have been as big of a problem but chip shortages + inflation are a double hit combo.

yeah, it's a weird economy out there.  it's honestly a difficult question on if the economy is booming or busting.   it looks like both at the same time depending on what angle you look at.  in any other economy this would be suicide but sony may be able to get away with it now.  literally everything is raising in price from food to wages.  we're in a spiral right now and things are out of control.

i think the key aspect is does xbox follow suit.  if not MS could lose a huge amount of money but make huge gains on the user base.   i can see they are really pushing the series S lately.   might end up being just the right product for this economy unfortunately..

i was feeling good about the psvr2 reveal but this is making me feel worse.  i thought for sure it would be either $400 or $500 but now i won't rule out $600....

Ah makes sense.
Not as much incentive for them to hike prices.
