Directs usually blast through games like no other video game show out there. There can always be exceptions though.

This is the first general Nintendo Direct since 4th September 2019. There was a "mini" general direct in March last year.

So 11 months since the last mini general show Nintendo did, 17 months since the last full-on Nintendo show. Peeps have been waiting for this one.

They are going to announce Super Mario RPG 2!!!
Spoiler for Hidden:
Deep in my dreams.
They're going to announce a real Paper Mario!

Spoiler for Hidden:
Also in my dreams.
I'd take a Mario platformer, some new IPs please.

Peeps are literally always waiting for the next Nintendo Direct.

But hey, I'll be tuning in as well I guess, maybe they'll show a new game or two for me to get on Switch. I think my last Switch purchase was Link's Awakening in 2019.

That they are, but this has been the longest wait in many years.

I only got four games last year for Switch: ACNH, Minecraft Dungeons, XCDE, HW:AOC. This year I already got SM3DW+BF. Some of these games are really great, but none have lived up to the heights of 2017 yet.

Personally hoping for more info on BOTW2 here, if I get that then anything else is gravy.

I doubt they'd announce a new 3D Mario right after the new release, it could cut its legs. It could still happen though, I doubt it would affect the sales too much.

Even 1 new IP from Nintendo would be crazy, "some new IPs please" is very crazy talk. Maybe from some 3rd parties.

nintendo fans are always telling me how amazing the next direct will be and it never pans out.

this could be the exception though. it has been a massive dry spell for nintendo this year so if they still have nothing they really are failing as developers.

I mean japanese office culture was especially unprepared for Covid, that's not exclusive to Nintendo.

Failing about as much as any other big japanese publisher.

But hey if you wanna take a global pandemic on a scale that no person alive today has had to deal with before as your vehicle to say "Haha, Nintendo bad", then be my guest.

1. I read an article about a women who survived both covid and the spanish flu so the "no person alive" bit isn't true.

2. I work in software too. of all industries covid impacted,. the software industry has the absolute easiest ability to transition to a fully remote workforce. if nintendo can't adjust then the word "failing" surely applies.

1. Ok.

2. I also work in software and I know that it's easier than other industries. Still doesn't change the fact that many japanese businesses have a much more "traditional" way of working, than many western companies, that is simply very poorly suited to remote work.

Is that something that should be worked on? Sure. Should it be exected that these decades of traditions can be broken off in a matter of months with no growing pains whatsoever? Probably not. Is that somehow a problem exclusive to Nintendo? No, why should it be?

well it's not particularly worth arguing about today anyways. it's been a year since covid began and all nintendo has published is a port collection and a port with a 2 hour expansion.

tomorrow there had better have something good and I'm not talking about another smash character or another port of one of the last 9 wiiU titles not yet on switch or the rumored metroid prime collection or the rumored zelda collection.

I mean an actual new full fledged game. going a full year without one (since AC) is just unacceptable.
