Sonic Mania (PS4, XBO, NS, and PC) reveals Green Hill Zone Act 2, new bosses

"Green Hill Zone Act 2" will be a new Act exclusive to the upcoming Sonic Mania, Sega announced.


The new Act expands upon the tropical setting of Green Hill Zone Act 1, and offers new mechanics, obstacles, and secrets to uncover. Players can use fire to burn log bridges, and collect rings and power-ups. Green Hill Zone Act 2 also has a "notably different" boss battle.

Sega also revealed the first in a new series of new bosses called the "Hard-Boiled Heavies." These enemies are part of Dr. Eggman's new arsenal, and each are equipped with special skills.

The first of the Hard-Boiled Heavies is the "Heavy Gunner," who will appear at the end of the Hollywood-inspired Studiopolis Act 1. Heavy Gunner is a large robot who can fly with his helicopter, and discourages "speeding" with a powerful rocket launcher.

Sonic Mania is a celebration of Sonic the Hedgehog's past and future, blending Sega Genesis-era Sonic platforming with new Zones, powerful bosses, and three playable characters running at 60 frames per second.

Sonic 4's first level is Splash Hill Zone.
