The game has a really cool feature where you build up energy as you make hits, and if you time it with the ring around your character without getting hit you gain health back. I don't know that I've played a game that has anything similar but there could be.

And while the game is hard they have options to let you tune enemy health and how much damage they  give. I've had to tone it down on a couple occasional but typically will keep it at default the majority of the time

Like you do the actual shooting to a rythm? There are a few fps music games like that, but none I know of that aren't singularly focused on it.

No there's not really a rhythm to it. Essentially each successive hit "adds" back health to the health bar. Then, there is a ring around your character that will solidify and if you time it with R1 you gain all that health back.  if you miss the ring timing or an enemy hits you, it's nullified.

Hell is Us is just so good.  The lore and world is absolutely compelling. Combat can get repetitive but it's still pretty good

Could always play the demo and see if you like it. Lol

I think I'm about 30 hours into it. I'm probably pretty close to finishing the story and I've probably done about 75% or so of everything in it

OMG, the new Skate game is out on early access.  Those games were my jam back in the day. I hope this one is just as good.

Horizon

The biggest game of the gen is facing another delay.

Yep love Skate. Not really loving the online of it all though. I just want it like the first 3 were. But the controls feel great as always and it's awesome shredding lines again

I've been playing Persona 5 Royal (NS) and Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition (PS5).

I'm about 20 hours or so into Persona 5 and just clocked 45 hours into DMC5 SE.

I'm about to be done with DMC5SE - been doing the post game (as Vergil and LDK mode alongside Human mode).

Persona 5 Royal, just done the 1st palace so doing stuff in between until the next one.

Once I am done with DMC5SE , I'm gonna play Metal Gear Solid V Definitive Experience on my PS5 before I play DK Bananza on Switch 2 and then Final Fantasy Tactics Ivalice Chronicles on PC and Gears of War 3 on my Series X.

As for what I've played and finished in 2025.....

woof.

yesterday the we received our first xmas toy catalog.  walmart.  it had 3 pages dedicated to video games:
- 2 pages to switch 2
- half a page for ps5
- 1/4 page for meta quest
- 1/4 page for some kinect-like console called "Nex Playground"

xbox was conspicuously missing.  apparently walmart thinks nex playground is a more important console than xbox.

i looked into nex a bit.   i kind of like the overall idea.  i loathe that you cannot buy games,..  subscription only.

Very likely that physical is being completely dropped and that the next Xbox console will actually be more of a PC than a home console but pre-built for gaming.

I wonder how b/c will be implemented, whether through emulation or streaming.

Nex playground looks like it wouldn't have that many games...

But i really like the look of the console!

Yeah I have no idea how xbox stays a box vs a brand slapped on generic devices.

Wouldn't be shocked though if it still supported a disc drive. Like no new games sold on disc but if you plug in a pc one with the right specs, sure.
