The seats sure look like they've been designed to be hosed down.

kitler53

firstly,.. i'd get naughty with that host.

and yes, the seats do like they could get hosed down.   probably more for barf then naughtiness stains though.  this design (the carriage design) looks amazing for taking this to the bars and back.  love the more social configuration for that use case.

however, i think they need an alternative design for things like going to the airport.   would be impossible for me to use that thing to get my family of four (+ four regular suitcases) to the airport.   would be even worse if the suitcases weren't standard like trying to go on a ski vacation.

lastly, i really feel like durability is going to be an issue.   soo much tech and literally any of it breaking feels like it would render the vehicle useless.  one spaced out tall guys walks into the lidar and breaks it.   or one bratty kid that smashes the screen for the "start" button.   obviously they can fix those things but i kind of feel like the expense of finding and towing a broken down vehicle and fixing it will negate any cost saving of not having a human if it happens often enough.

hell,.. i could see loads of people putting gum on the cameras just out of spite for technology.

it's like the internet fuckwad theory:

once you take the driver out of the car (anonymity) loads of people will be completely disrespectful to the property (total fuckwad).

Oh yeah people screw with self driving cars all the time. Most of it is just regular vandalism but sometimes it's simple things like putting cones on them kinda like your gum example.

kitler53

does the cone keep the car from driving?    kind of hilarious actually if that is enough to stop the car.

Yeah stops them. They could program the cars to shake them off or slowly drive back to hq, but at least last I heard they need to send out a human every time to take it off.
