I vibe coded an abstract strategy game. Spent two days with my extra pc training an AI to play it, same architecture as AlphaZero. But it sucked and was barely intelligent.

I also tried a more traditional chess like AI but this game just has way too many states. I could only search a single turn forward in a reasonable time, since unlike chess you can't prune all the obviously wrong moves.

Not sure what else I could try. This is a toy problem just to get some practice with these types of AI systems.

I got a good AI. Not great but good. Uses genetic algorithms to determine the best heuristic for alpha beta pruning. Only 87 weights in its neural network.

Fun to play against but struggles if the board becomes too congested.

Trying one last thing, otherwise this is it.

Gemini broke on me and produced this. None of this is real of course.

So codex is doing crazy good in unreal so far. I have a climb system that can be used to build levels already in maybe a week or so. The love/hate relationship i have with AI is annoying. I do think this kind of situation is the best path for AI whereas Art should be fully human made minus maybe ideation concepts art just get ideas flowing especially if you push the direction of the image to what you want. But other than that I'm not going to touch art with AI

What's the difference though?

My issue with AI art is just the quality. It's as if everyone went to the same school and has great technical art skills but is completely uninspiring. Depending on what you need, that uninspiring art is fine.

In terms of gameplay systems/coding and actual art there probably isn't really that great of a difference. It all had to be trained on already created work and it's stealing from others no matter what.  I guess with gameplay/coding it's all just data and it feels like it could be easier to get it to do new things with the already trained data. Art for me needs a soul. Theres just something missing in AI art that people make to try and invoke those same feelings you tend to get from human made art.

Things like realism, i'm like eh it's not that big of a deal, because that's really the most uninspired art you can really get. lol. That's the majority of my art, so i worry less about generating some concepts for me to work off of.

Idk, we have to find a good balance or we all are really iced anyway.

I've used AI a bunch for making scripts to deal with my videos and renaming files, stuff like that.

A range of results from bad to really good.

A script I've been using lately is actually way better than I thought it was.  It's a script for re-encoding into HEVC, and I thought I needed to point it at specific folders that had videos, but it actually searches recursively, so I could have just done that. (It also makes a duplicate directory for the new videos, which was why I was worried. But it actually makes the parent _output, and then keeps the folder structure the same inside.)

Instagram is just full of AI videos it is crazy.

If it wasn't for the robotic voices and wrong spelling, it would be hard to tell these sexy girls are not real. But like at the same time, does it matter? Fake girl or real girl, it's just pixels.

Oh as I was typing I got another one. So convincing if you don't take a sec to check.

Spoiler for Hidden:
<div align="center"><video style="text-align:center;margin:auto;padding:5px;" width="420" controls> &nbsp; <source src="https://i.imgur.com/xEYfzDs.mp4" type="video/webm"> </video></div>

I just know this is AI but I can't prove it. The tech has gotten so good. The stars on the US flag have that "ai aliasing" feel but other than that, can you spot anything?

Edt: another example, nsfw, but very easy to prove cause women can't have those dimensions: https://i.imgur.com/wbYd7nO.mp4
