I kind of panic bought this anime called 86.

- Got pulled off Crunchyroll Streaming (no longer available through a subscription).
- Blu-ray disc sold out on Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Gruv.

Currently, there's an import for $60 on Amazon.

Barnes and Noble seems to be the only place that has it.

Which is a little funny, because it was $20 last week...

Someone was mentioning Full Metal Alchemist (2003). I think that's an easy top 5 anime for me, but there currently isn't a way to stream it legally.
I do have a legitimate blu-ray set for it. But I'm pretty sure the $70 set on Amazon for it, is a bootleg.

A really big reminder for why I got into this. :'(

About halfway through Season 7 of Game of Thrones.

I feel like there's a big shift. Not bad. But everything is feeling very rushed. I feel like Seasons 1-4, would have made some of these events into entire seasons.

Spoiler for Hidden:
Like Arya going to the Freys to killing them. That probably would have been an entire season arc for her going there and doing it. Instead it's like 5 minutes of S6, her just being there, and then the first 5 minutes of S7, she's poisoned the lot.

There's a fair number of things like that.

The pacing is very different.

Pacing was too slow in the other seasons, but the writing was great so it was still good.

I remember being so frustrated how long it took for things to happen. Like the whole season of Peter Dinklage traveling.

Well yeah that's true. They swung from slow pacing to astronomically fast pacing. The slower pacing worked better even if there were points that dragged too long

the pacing in the books is slow too. the books are very character driven which is why I like them.

They're releasing Rick and Morty S9 on blu-ray only a few months after it'll finish airing.

I said basically this exact comment a few months ago, but still surprises me how much people like current Rick and Morty. I've even seen a couple people say that they think the new seasons are even better than the first few.

I've only watched up to Season 7, there was still some great stuff in the latter seasons, but I think the first few seasons were more consistent.

Sounds like you're in Season 5.

Yeah the pacing turns to shame after season 6. It gets more ridiculous at the end of 7 and 8

But that grounded everything. It felt like westeros was so large. And that travel meant something, it was dangerous because anything could happen during travel. Then it's just .. ya 5 seconds later we are all the way from the south to the north

I really loved the grounding!

It was great for plot reasons. No teleportation. But it sucked when the show hypes up the destination and yet the whole season focuses on the journey.

Made it feel like Daenerys found Jon Snow and company in like 5 seconds.
Finished Episode 3 of Season 8.

So I felt like this was a really awesome zombie TV, but it was bad Game of Thrones TV.

It didn't feel like they had a plan. They didn't beat impossible odds by being clever, they won by being lucky and having bad writing. Arya magically appearing in the big zombie circle and taking out the Night King easily. I have a lot of complaints. It felt kind of dumb they just had the Dothraki charge in. It felt like earlier seasons would have made them do smarter things. I don't even know what that would look like, but I could imagine them building multiple walls of fire, having the archers shoot flaming arrows first before charging. Stuff like that.

But I think it was fantastic from a zombie point of view. Like the whole scene where the Dothraki charge into the zombie horde is kind of fantastic from that point of view. Watching the flames die out one by one, is kind of amazingly harrowing.

Yeah the from a scene by scene perspective some shots were super cool and amazing. But it felt like they just thought of certain ideas and meshed them into the episodes.

It certainly was horrible writing. They didn't bother even explain the whole knight king plot and the reasons behind it.

The two showrunners wanted out I'm pretty sure, so they just rushed the hell out of it.
