So Rings of Power premiering today. Anyone seen the first episode?
Not yet. Will maybe watch it tonight.

Even the good athletic guy?
I mostly mean the main one:

Not sure when I will end up watching LOTR, but I am looking forward to it.

I really wish they would have casted someone else instead of Ellen page in umbrella academy. You know, someone who can actually act.

I'd agree in the first 2 seasons but something about him in the new season is much better. IMO at least

Legend

I think the lord of the rings show is ok but way too slow. Why do so many TV shows tease development over multiple episodes instead of just having development? Everything in the second episode could be condensed to 5 minutes.

Yep.

Its made worse by the fact that the movies exist. The movies put out in 10 minutes more than what 2 full episodes have.

Maybe movies aren't the best medium for comparison. But there are some 20 minute TV shows that feel more packed than what this pulls in two hours.

Spoiler for Hidden:
I haven't actually finished the second episode yet. Just assuming based on the first 90 minutes I've watched how things are going.

For the entire show page has sucked. Completely flat acting. No reactions, no emotions, intensity. And no charisma what so ever. A horrible actor in an otherwise brilliant cast.

the-pi-guy

Finished the second episode of Rings of Power last night. Felt better than the first episode to me.

I feel like the first episode had a lot of scenes where it felt like the whole point of the scene was just to show
Spoiler for Hidden:
That Galadriel was on the search for Sauron, and many of her fellow people didn't believe that he was still out there.
Felt like they wasted a good bit of time trying to hammer that in.

I feel like
Spoiler for Hidden:
Galadriel is the weakest part of the show right now.
It's not an issue with her particularly, but it feels like her story is going the slowest to get anywhere interesting.

Nori's story has a mystery going on with the weird guy.
Arondir has a mystery going on, with the tunnels, and the orc creature.
Elrond has some interesting dynamics going on with the dwarves.

Galadriel is still the same as like 4 minutes in. She's had like two obstacles, and neither of them feel very interesting.
The bit where she's about to go to Valinor, but then leaves at the last moment. That has some nice emotional flashbacks, but they also feel unearned for some reason. Like it felt like not enough had happened since we first saw that moment (and not really a time thing, timing wise there was a fair bit of time between that scene and the flashback, but it felt like not enough had happened)
Like if there was a scene where you flashbacked to the scene just before, that would feel awkward, and this kind of gave the same feeling.

Overall though, I find myself not really caring about Galadriel's part.

Also I get weird Star Wars vibes from Elrond. Like the very proper way he talks somewhat reminds me of Obi Wan in the prequel trilogy.
Been watching The Boys.

I kind of got spoiled on some aspects from crawling on YouTube, and thought the show seemed interesting. Glad to say though that it wasn't quite the show I was expecting.

Was worried the main focus of the show was Homelander.

But I kind of don't think I should be watching it. It's putting me in a strange mental state.

Spoiler for Hidden:
It's very often gruesome.
And the vast majority of characters are just horrible people in some way or another.
But I am engrossed in a way that I haven't been in a show in quite a while.

I fully understand that, especially as things progress.

It's great in many ways though.

Someone on Era has had an avatar of Homelander for a while.

But now that I've seen the show, it feels kind of concerning...

I love homelander

Doesn't mean I agree with his views or agree with his actions. He is just an awesome villian
