QuoteFor the PS VR2 headset, we took comfort a few steps further by adding new features such as a lens adjustment dial, so users have an additional option to match the lens distance between their eyes to optimize their view. We also created a slimmer design with a slight weight reduction – even with the new added features such as the new built-in motor for the headset feedback. It was quite a challenge to create a slimmer design with new features added to improve upon our first headset, but our design and engineering teams proved this could be possible when we saw the final design!

Quote"When I started to work on the design for the PlayStation VR2 headset, one of the areas I wanted to focus on first was the idea of creating a vent in the headset to let air out, similar to the vents on the PS5 console that allows airflow. Our engineers came up with this idea as a good way to allow ventilation and avoid having the lens fog up while players are immersed in their VR games.

- lens adjustment dial
- IPD adjustment
- vent
- built in motor was already confirmed
- weight reduction

Vent! I'm always sweaty in the face after playing psvr

Now I can talk about how the old one looked cooler lol.

I miss all the glowing bits. This design looks like everyone else while the previous one screamed playstation.

But it does look good.

Maybe, but it does have the tiny x, y, triangle, circle

Also, looks a lot more comfortable tbh

New headset is better no doubt about it. Just very similar to quest in many ways.

Yeha design wise the older one looked much cooler. But I guess practically and comfort where the important part here in the design

I'm surprised people seem to like this one so much.
I think it looks fine, but the older one does look better.

i'm happy to hear about the vent,.. fogging up was a think that happened to me too often.    also love that they say there is a weight reduction as psvr gets heavy and tiresome after extended use.  i wonder how much less weight it has.

overall looks as good as one can expect a VR system to look.   i still think it looks silly especially while wearing it but is just core to the concept of VR imo.

now that there is inside out tracking there is no need for the glowy bits.   you didn't really think they'd put LEDs on it just for your strange sense of cosmetics did you?

i think it looks very playstation as is.  it looks very consistent with the design of the ps5 which i believe was the point of this design.

I think psvr1 looks cooler in a gamerish way, but psvr2 probably looks sleeker and cooler to the mainstream. Less like a toy, more like a stylish prop

if we're just ranking cosmetics,...

psvr 2 > psvr > occulus  (the one legend put a picture of in this thread.   it looks cheap with that fabric strap.)

I've known what it looks like for a while now.

I think it looks nice, but it looks pretty similar to quest. The average person will just see both as a white thing covering your eyes with 4 black dots. PS5 however has a really bold design that's hard to mistake for anything else.
