Same rules as the GOW thread. Give a high, medium, and low prediction.

IE you expect it to get a 95 so you set that as your middle. Then you set 97 as your high because you don't think the game has a good chance of scoring above that. Then you set 88 as your low because you don't expect the game to score lower than that.

RESULTS WILL NOW BE SCORED SO THAT AN OVERALL WINNER CAN BE DETERMINED AT THE END OF THE YEAR. IF YOU HAVE THE CLOSEST PREDICTION, YOU EARN POINTS: SCORE +=100-(high prediction-low prediction)*2. IF THE FINAL MC FALLS OUTSIDE YOUR HIGH AND LOW PREDICTIONS, YOU LOSE POINTS: SCORE -=50.

Review embargo ends when the countdown ends. Feel free to post predictions and edit them up till that time.

I know this is months away yet, but preorders just opened, and the game has gotten a lot of criticism due to the lack of a free upgrade option, or even a paid one.

This Forbes article is just dishonest.
Sony Explicitly Said A PS5 ‘Horizon Forbidden West’ Upgrade Would Be Free

I do wonder if it'll cause a change though.

ps5 games are $70.  horizon is cross-gen.  The alternative to a paid upgrade is that the ps4 game just flat out cost $70 instead of $60.

if anything that will be the change so complainers should really stfu or what they'll get is a "free upgrade" by only having access to the ps5 pricing model.

I think a lot of people would be fine with a paid upgrade, but Horizon doesn't even offer that.

If you want to upgrade from PS4 -> PS5, you need to either get the $80 Deluxe Edition or one of the pricier ones.  Or buy out the two games outright.

great, except when a title doesn't support smart delivery (aka every 3rd party game) at which point you're upgrade path is even worse than on playstation.   ...buy the game a second time at full price.

if you are reading the same resetera thread i am most or saying this is sooo confusing the the customer and dishonest and anti-consumer.

i went to the horizon pre-order page.   the versions very clearly call out what you are buying.

you don't have to like it but the current criticism is grounded in BS.    this is absolutely no different than what movies have been doing.

dvd: $20
blu ray: $30
dvd + blu ray + digital code: $40

Sony feels like they're being really dishonest about Horizon FW PS5

QuoteLast year we made a commitment to deliver free upgrades for our cross-gen launch titles, which included Horizon Forbidden West. While the pandemic's profound impact pushed Forbidden West out of the launch window we initially envisioned, we will stand by our offer: Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.

They put out this statement 3 months ago.

PS store still says nothing about it.

On PS5, I can't even search for the PS4 version. I can only find the $70 PS5 version. The PS4 version isn't mentioned on PS5, except in the $80 or so digital deluxe version.

I will end up buying it on my phone, so it's not the biggest deal.  But why.

Weird.

I think I might hold out till the first price drop. I loved the first one and I love the zeitgeist of playing big Sony games day one but they've done a poor job selling the price hike.

BananaKing

Yeah the price hike makes me unwilling to buy any Sony game day 1. No matter what it is. Even god of war.

nnodley

considering i ordered the collectors edition, $70 is nothing to me for this game at least.

it is dumb price hike, but i'm still buying them all day one.

it is.  but it's the kind of play style i could never hope to play as.   i'll hide in the grass and take people out 1 at a time and run far far away if i'm spotted.
