Cynical, probably pre-planned, non-apology. They knew exactly what they were doing with the console versions of this, and this apology doesn't cover any of the issues outside of the bugs. They hid shame and lied to consumers, and they probably planned this apology hoping to be forgiven by Gamers and get away with it. Here's a TBT:

Also the review score starts to tumble now, Opencritic down to 89 after a 6/10 and a 6.5/10 were added.
People are now upset at Sony for their return policy.

5 reviews added, all around the 7-8 range. Down to 86.

IGN made a separate 4/10 review for the console versions, not sure I've seen them do anything like that before.

QuoteThe incentive was there. Up until last Friday, the developers believed that their bonuses were contingent upon hitting 90 or higher on Metacritic, according to a report from Bloomberg. As a result, the individual developers and publishers had ample incentive to distribute review codes in a way that maximized their aggregate scores and secured their bonus.

In this case, they issued PC review copies to publications with high-end PCs and required that they not show any of their own gameplay recordings. They allowed no one to discuss or review the game on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 consoles.

They did this knowing that their game had severe performance issues on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which were its target launch consoles given its published its debut trailer in 2013 and initial April 2020 launch date. They did this knowing that the visual bugs that you would see in a video were jarring enough to make many question their preorder. They knew that, if the console version were to be reviewed, it would receive negative reviews due to its performance issues and hurt the game's launch day sales.

They did it knowing that many publications generally can't re-review games. It's not part of their business model. The second review creates confusion with their audience in addition to dampening SEO and Google keyword rankings. Second reviews won't rank high on news aggregators, such as Google News or Apple News, because it's a topic that's been covered by them before. Second reviews also typically come after a game's launch, when many consumers have already decided whether or not to buy a game, and thus don't attract the same readership. Finally, Metacritic generally does not accept edited or updated review scores.

Down to 85 on Opencritic. PC metacritic down to 89, also console versions start at 51 and 50 but only 4 and 5 reviews so far.

Just think Knack has a higher critic score than Cyberpunk on PS4.  Good that people are finally recognizing quality.

so for the purpose of this thread which score are we using?  in my mind I was rating the console version but to be frank I did not expect this kind of disparity.

Well the 'official' rules are that we use the metascore of the platform with most reviews. I always disputed that though, I think Opencritic score is most fair.

What the fudge

Its so frickin shady.

84 opencritic. Wow, I really never thought I'd see anything like that. That's officially low 80s. Just a couple weeks ago cyberpunk felt like a sure 90+, it was going to be a juggernaut game. Crazy.

I put about 9 hours into the game today. As much as it has flaws and it annoys me and I think its shame constantly, I also love it and can't stop playing.

I'm hoping it'll be something like my time with Mass Effect Andromeda. It had lots of flaws even after all the patches, but I still loved it.

I wonder if it failed certification, but CDPR insisted they'd have the issues fixed so they delayed it after going gold.

Then management insisted no more delays. So people crunched.  Knowing the issues weren't fixed and that their pay depended on it, they sent out the PC version for reviews.

I'd need to play the game to know, but to me it feels like they had troubled development and didn't know what exactly they wanted to make. It's like Star Citizen without early access.
