So far we have yet to have gotten a price, release date.

In MS's case they are awkwardly the only one not talking about Series S, their low end console.

When it comes to price, both companies said they want to be competitive.

How much of the lack of information is due to Covid or due to competing, it's probably hard to say.  But it very much feels like both companies are waiting for the other to announce their price.  MS was expected to have something this month and instead it got delayed.

These consoles are about 3 months away, and there's still a lot we don't know about them.

We know nothing about the OS, the back of the system, price, release date.

Not to mention for games at this point the PS4 had:
- 2 hour  unveil
- 2 hour E3
- 1 hour 45 min Gamescom (next week relatively speaking)
- 45 min TGS the week after.

So far we havent had anywhere near that much for PS5's shows.

There's still a lot to learn about the consoles.

What is expected next?

PS5 launch date and price is probably next

I think next month will be when these systems finally start materializing as clearly defined objects. Specific dates for hardware and games, specific prices, gameplay demos, OS demos, and hands on for third parties.

I agree, both are waiting for the other.  neither wants to have the higher price nor do either want to loose a crud ton of money.  they are both mulling over the idea of $400 despite the huge loss but would much rather be selling at $500.  They both know that being $100 (or even $50) more than the other could lose them the generation.

ah, the all important back of the system.  i was soo close to buying an xbox one but then i saw the back of the system..

...in all seriousness the thing i'm most excited for is the OS from sony.  xbox has already stated this will be more or less the same as on xbox one i believe.  that thing is getting constant tweaking anyways so it's not like the new gen is make or break for it anyways.   but sony's OS is a complete wild card and i'm excited to see what they did.

release date i don't personally care about.  i'm not buying day-1 anyways but clearly the console will launch on either November 13th or 20th 2020.

price.  well i care about price in that i don't want sony to be too high compared to ms to ensure market success.  but for me personally i'd buy at $500 so i'm not worried.

I've got a bit of a feeling that Sony has a decent show planned for before launch to show off more about the games, OS, price and release date, but they are waiting for the price of the XSX to decide.

I really feel like they will have something in the next 4 weeks.  It's been a long time since anything substantial was shown/announced.

It's possible that Sony wants to slow drop a lot of that stuff.  But I think we would have gotten more by this time if that was their strategy.  Show the OS one week.  A month later give a BC update.  Etc.  But they haven't been doing much like that.

Not to mention, MS has had more time dedicated to games with the not so great third party and first party conferences.

You saw the HDMI in and Kinect port, and knew it was going the wrong way.    8)
