I didn't realize so many fans hate Skyrim. TES6 too?

We all know the memes about it being ported to everything. This is about the game itself.

I knew it simplified stuff and I knew lots of fans viewed Elder Scrolls as all downhill since Morrowind, but I didn't realize just how far some people took this viewpoint.

I've been researching The Elder Scrolls and a lot of people don't consider it to be an rpg or a proper entry. It's closer to Battlespire or Redguard, the two spinoff games Bethesda made.

It's just weird because outside of Daggerfall, every mainline Elder Scrolls has had pros and cons from an rpg focus.

Daggerfall improved on Arena in every way.

Morrowind cut almost all features from Daggerfal outside of magic and added a cool alien world with great graphics.

Oblivion added back horses and buying houses. Increased the world size and added radiant AI. Simplified other features and went for a basic fantasy look.

Skyrim simplified features even more but added back a unique world and procedural quests. Added kids, crafting, and much improved combat.

Really only makes sense imo if people want more "numbers for the sake of numbers" vs "control your adventure," beyond having general dislikes of course.

Given the reception to Fallout 4 though, I wonder how Elder Scrolls 6 will go. Will they continue the trend of increasing accessibility and putting more effort into the full experience, or will they put more complicated things in?

I have a few predictions.

With ssds, I bet they make the world seamless, at least for entering towns. With this change they can add back in levitation and super jumps. Maybe even custom spells.

It'd also let them add back in wall climbing. Freeform wall climbing is popular so I could see that working well.

I also think house building will be added. It has become such a popular part of Fallout. Maybe you need permission from the local leader to build, that way it can't be used for much.

Lastly I think wars and faction changes will be added. They were cut from Skyrim and are big in AC.

Don't think the old level system will come back.

I didn't realize you were such a fan. I have only played Skyrim.  I have all the games, but I've yet to get into any of the others.

Common complaints I have seen:
There's no choices mostly.  (Mostly because the game let's you do everything.  You don't choose a class, you can instead gain any skill you want. )
There's no impact from your actions

I don't personally take issue with either of these.  My personal problems are mainly that gameplay could be tighter.  But this is probably not the case because the game let's you do so many things.

Building houses is alright in Skyrim.  Easiest way to get the best house.

We both know there's not going to be an Elder Scrolls 6.  They'll just find a way to re-release Skyrim, just like Rockstar has with GTA 5

But they already announced it!

Or did they really announce that they're going to re-release Skyrim?

Seriously though, think they'll actually make an Elder Scroll 6 anytime soon?  I mean, does their MMO give them enough money to not care?  Kinda like how GTA 5 makes so much money; they're probably never going to make GTA 6.

I think the bigger issue is that BGS wants to do different things.  They've expanded into Fallout, Starfield with their main studio.

So much has been shown though!

Also the culture at Bethesda studios is seemingly nothing like Rockstar. Their plan for a long time has been Fallout 4, Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6. It's just that during the development of Fallout 4 they ended up spinning off multiplayer into its own game.

Their MMO is handled by a different internal studio, same with Fallout 76 support. If anything I bet the studio is wanting to prove their talents with Starfied and 6, since the general reception towards them has been pretty mixed as of late.

I played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim near release but I always drop them pretty early. Haven't played the older ones.

Haha speaking of houses, I had the worst experience as a kid with Oblivion. I saved up and bought a really cheap house that looked great. Turned out however that the house was haunted and was part of a quest, so it didn't really function like a house. Was frustrating.

That's actually kinda funny.
