Remember how Horizon and Breath of the Wild seemed to draw a lot of comparisons?

Well Horizon 2 seems to have copied the corruption stuff infesting the world haha. I really wonder what is up with that. I feel like I completely forgot the ending to the first one.

Also I finally was able to rewatch the trailer in 4k. Wow this game looks great. Noticed a few things like shadow pop in so it's definitely all gameplay.

Also cool how stylized it is.

Here's what I remember

Background:

The "corruption" is the HADES part of the Zero Dawn project which was designed cause the extinction of any life on Earth in order to start over in case of critical error. HADES and GAIA are both very advanced AI, GAIA spent years finding the shutdown to the Faro robots before beginning the terraforming of Earth to support life again. The process was going perfectly and HADES wasn't needed, however HADES was activated due to a signal sent by an unknown source (one of the big open plot points I hope the sequel will address). HADES was also edited by this source and was made to destroy GAIA, which would mean no restarting again after destroying all life on the surface and Earth would be left barren and lifeless.

GAIA made Aloy as a clone of Dr. Sobek (the scientist who made the program) just before HADES destroyed her, leaving messages for Aloy to see when she grew up. HADES communicated with some humans, promising knowledge for service to him and Sylens founded the Eclipse group (main bad guys of the story) which followed HADES. It turns out HADES' plan was to reactivate the Faro robots to wipe out all biomass in the same way that caused the global extinction the first time around. Aloy finds this out and finds out she needs a master override to shut HADES down before he can transmit a signal across the globe reactivating all Faro robots.

Ending:

Aloy found the master override which allowed her to shut down HADES, Sylens rigged it onto a spear for her to use in the final battle. Aloy won and thought she was destroying HADES with the spear, however Sylens betrayed her and he'd actually rigged the spear to have HADES sent to him. He keeps HADES trapped in a box, hoping to gain knowledge from him.

So the sequel carries on from here, HADES and his ability to "corrupt" machines still exists, perhaps he has a new plan and a new way to corrupt the world as well. Maybe HADES betrays Sylens or convinces him to work with him. Perhaps the source of the mysterious signal which started this all will come into play.

Also yeah, it looks magical in 4K, I can't believe that's how the game will actually look.

Code corruption. Not a physical thing in the world with all those red vines.

There was physical corruption in the first game as well. I think it was a combination of nanites and Aloy's focus providing a visual representation of the corruption.

Ah yeah I looked it up to remind myself, the Faro robots had nanites as a type of biological weapon which consumes human flesh/ biomass. They also attack silicon based systems and make them susceptible to hacking. Pretty advanced shame.

The Vines or something similar was in the first game.
