Update:

- gravity rush 2
- Jotun
- Lego Incredibles
- Lego Jurassic world

i haven't decided what i'm playing next.   technically i'm still playing gravity rush but i kind of hate the game.   i don't typically abandon a game 2/3 of the way though but i'm just not enjoying it.   it's weird because i loved the 1st one and i couldn't explain to you anything in particular the second one is doing differently but i just hate playing it.

Update:

Rise of the tomb raider
Fall Guys
Lego DC Super Villains
Concrete Genie
Astro Bot Rescue Mission
Super Time Force

I wasn't going to update quite yet because technically i'm "in progress" with all of these except concrete genie and super time force but I need to delete them to make room to re-download ratchet and clank which i just have such a strong desire to replay right now.   And if i delete it without writing it down i'll lose track of it.

with next gen soo close i'll probably at best get 1 more update in before ps5 launches.  must choose wisely for what my last game will be in the gen eight timespan.

Anyone have strong opinion from this list of my most anticipated backlog items?
- Ni No Kuni 2
- Spiderman
- Valkyria Chronicles 4
- Detroit
- The Last of Us Left Behind
- Horizon Zero Dawn Frozen Wilds

i'm probably leaning to spiderman or valkyria chronicles at this point.

Detroit was great if you liked their previous games. Had a few of my favorite moments of the gen.

I'd say play Spider-Man and HZD:FW above the others.

I've played a lot of games since my last update:

TLOU2
Ghost of Tsushima
F1 2020
Xenoblade Chronicles DE
Sea of Thieves
Fall Guys
Human Fall Flat
Control
Minecraft Dungeons

Quite a mix of games there, some excellent and some not so much.

Good overall but severely lacking in content. It feels like there's no purpose in playing considering there's no upgrade or progression system, its just repetitive tasks to earn gold for cosmetics. There's only one type of enemy and they're terrible to fight. There's only a few types of fetch/ kill/ delivery quests and that's it. They added "tall tales" which are more story based things but they're pretty rubbish, they're just using clues to work out where to go next on the map, sail there and find the next clue etc.

Ship combat is well made but its not fun imo, playing with friends its pretty crazy, frantically trying to control the ship, shoot the cannons, repair holes etc. but it quickly just becomes a game of who has more wood and cannonballs, also there's no incentive really to fight in ship combat anyway. The random events which pop up are cool and something to do but again its all about just more gold for new cosmetics.

So yeah, the overall core is really good and its fun to sucker around with friends but there's not really anything to do, it already got repetitive and boring after a few hours of play. I think the reviews at launch still stand, 2 years later and they added some stuff but not improved or fixed any of the core issues of the game. Its a 7/10 through and through imo.

that is quite a lot of games.   big game too,.. other than maybe fall guys depending on how much you played no filler games in which you play 5 hours and have already finished the campaign.

i feel like your review does not match your conclusions of "good overall".  your review makes the game sound terrible.

Well I just listed all the negatives with the game, there's some positives that I didn't mention, like graphics being amazing, the world map being big with islands well spaced, actually sailing the ships is great fun with friends with you each having roles and calling out to each other, you feel like a proper crew. The game can be very atmospheric at times, especially when some of the world events pop up. Even though its repetitive it still feels fun to locate the spot of a treasure chest and hear the clunk as you hit it with your shovel. Coming across other crews and having friendly enounters can be fun, or panicking as you realise they're attacking you and fighting back.

There's lots of good stuff around a very good core but the game is let down a lot by the negatives. It could have been amazing but there's too much stuff which lets it down, which is why I mentioned those things.

Even though i won't get a ps5 for a while i'm going to count the gen as being over.  I made my final update and this time I didn't just add more game to the list of games i played,.. i also updated all of my statistics.

Games added this update:
- lego movie game
- manifold garden
- until dawn
- until dawn rush of blood
- south park stick of truth

i'm not actually done, done with those in bold but i'm past the half way mark so i'm rounding up.  even if i were to drop them today i can say i "played" them.

New games since my last update:

Hades
Doom Eternal
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Crash Bandicoot 4
Star Wars Squadrons
Spiritfarer
Darksiders Genesis
Nex Machina

Quite a mix of pretty much all great games there. Hades is magnificent and my GOTY.

Bring on PS5 and the new gen! Not playing it on PS5 due to the 19th release date here but I'm counting Spidey as my first 9th gen game. That unlocks in 5 hours on my ps4.

i hope they bring it to playstation

i thought spiderman would be my game after tomb raider but once i saw the ps5 footage i decided to delay it.  choose south park because with the election causing such stress on me i just needed a light hearted game and that best fit the bill.
