SSDs are the most exciting thing about next gen, just because loading screens suck so much

Yeah they will improve games in lots of more complicated ways, but I'm really excited to just not have to deal with as much loading.

The good thing is that it will also retroactively improve older games, too.

Yeah that will be amazing. Hopefully longest loading screens will be 1 or 2 seconds max. But I also hope it helps with cut scenes and allows better camera work and such. For example in the witcher 3 I  some epic fights youd have to load between cut scenes or gameplay to cut scene transitions. I hope that's improved

I fear most older games will need patches to really benefit from it. Console games are designed with specific hard drive speeds and it affects everything. In linear/corridor games the level geometry is specifically designed around loading and in open world games the max speed is based off loading. Patches that speed up mounts and speed up "shimmy" animations would be amazing.
