Pretty good, OS is indeed still smaller than xbox then (by 24GB). 138GB storage difference between the two, that's two big games. Not too bad.

Also I guess all the OS leaks are real, so 20 seconds cold boot matching xbox seems to be correct as well. Was expecting better.

Maybe. Could be a bunch of things.

An elaborate fake.

Could just be an early OS too.

Its so weird this shame is happening 5 weeks before launch. Also tomorrow we have lots of hands on videos going out but its only Japanese youtubers which is just baffling.

Some people on Era are now saying its actually like this:

XSX = 1024 GiB physical (1100 GB) = 920 GiB available for system = 802 GiB free for players (OS = 118 GiB)
 PS5 = 768 GiB physical (825 GB) = 690 GiB available for system = 664 GiB free for players (OS = 26 GiB)

Not sure which of this is true.

It becomes less baffling if you consider that they didn't send those Youtubers the console but invited them in for a local event.

The latter seems to be roughly true.

The former I don't think is.  But it's hard to say. Manufacturers very often will use GB to mean GiB.

I think MS did specify they are 512/1024 systems which means this makes the most sense. Also we know that PS OS should be dramatically smaller as is standard.

Xbox expansion card has ~920 gb of free space in the ign video. Would make sense that internal is the same.

seems like many of the big games like CoD are going to be 100+ Gb so maybe closer to 1 game.

I was fine with the space i had on ps4.  ps5 has marginally more space and games will be marginally bigger.  i think i'll be fine regardless.  to me it doesn't make sense to have 50 games downloaded and the space availble is enough for me to have 20 games at a time (since i play a lot of indie games and those are tiny).

the only think i hope for is ps5 has a better patching system.  back when i played destiny patches were every few weeks.  i had to keep a minimum 80 Gb free in order to download the 1 gb patches in order to keep playing.    annoyed the crud out of me.

We've known for a long time that PS5 fixes this.

idk if that's just conversion or whether this 10% free space thing is legit.
