Come with me on a journey.

Today I made spicy fettuccine alfredo. It's super simple so it works great as a starting lesson.

Ingredients:

Fettuccine noodles

Some butter

Some parmesan

Some crushed red pepper

Let's cook

Start by boiling the water. I mean you should know how to cook fettuccine, but I'll explain it anyway. Once the water is boiling, put in the fettuccine noodles. Stir gently until the noodles bend and are fully submerged in the water. Stir occasionally and keep it on high heat for the next seven(or is it several? hehehe digital foundry) minutes.

During this time, grind the parmesan if it's not already ground. Once the noodles are ready, pour the pot into a strainer. Then return to the pan. Put in a lot of butter. Not like a lot a lot, but enough to get all the fettuccine coated and slippery. Next you add the crushed red pepper to taste. Just remember that a small amount goes a long way. Stir the crushed pepper in. Now while still stirring, start pouring in the grounded parmesan. Once all the noodles are coated and start feeling sticky instead of slippery, you've added enough.

Bon appetit!

Another trick you can do with this recipe is to replace the butter with enough olive oil to lubricate the noodles, and also include a bit of spaghetti sauce. I like to use tomatoe and basil sauce, but you can use meat sauce or other kinds if you want.

I always put a bit of olive oil in the water itself as the spaghetti is cooking. I try to make my own sauce as often as I can but it does make a bit of a mess because I end up having to use the blender. I sauté some onions and garlic first and then add strained tomatoes. I then add some herbs and spices such as paprika, basil, salt, pepper etc. Let it cool down for a good 5 minutes and then blend it all together so you don't get any chunks of garlic/onions in the sauce. Cook the blended sauce for like 5 minutes and it's good to go.

It's nice and sweet because of the garlic and onions. Sometimes I add capers at the very end as well it gives it a nice hint of sourness.

That sounds freakin delicious.
Yeah it is awesome but takes a bit of work and you end up having quite a few pots and pans to clean up =P

Lol yeah I like to cook. I mainly enjoy using the barbecue though. I don't think anyone else in my family has ever cooked on the barbecue except for me and we've had it for like 2 years.

It would be nice to have a "subscribe" feature for threads like this... :P

I got some recipes I'll share later, but lately I've actually found Martha Stuart recipes work really well for things like pancakes, cookies, and pies.
