Obviously the criteria they are seeking to meet are different, but I have heard many people claim that games like Horizon, BOTW, and now God War are not only critic-friendly but actively trying to copy the formulas of other successful games in terms of both gameplay and story to get high review scores. Personally, I find it plausible, if a bit nebulous to define. Do you think God of War is Awards-Bait? Is that even a thing within video games? Are there other examples that you feel are more bait than others? Personally, even though I still really really like it, I feel like Bioshock: Infinite was actively trying to garner critical appeal with its marketing and design.

Today is the 11th day since release. Maybe they are waiting until this weekend to give first 2 weeks. Hopefully before that though and they do first 10 days.

It makes some sense with walking simulators and indies just since those are niche and cheaper to make. Doubt many/any are made with that intention but at least it could be possible.

Big AAA games that sell millions though, that just doesn't make any sense.

Also it's amusing that GOW has brought about a lot of discussion about cinematic story focused games even though by far the best thing about it is the combat. I don't think many people dismissing it realise how gamey GOW is.

Even though it's dumb and that's not how any of this works.

Got the final horn for max rage. Man, gaming sites aren't helpful when they say "here's the location of all 9", when there's actually 10. I had to look through a load to try and find the one I could still get. They all have a different 9.

The people dismissing the combat are just haters who haven't played it. I didn't think much of the combat until I played it and it feels brilliant. Although I did watch very little before playing

This is the best game this gen and might end up being my favourite of all time depending on how the game concludes.

Yeah for now its in my top 5 games of all time but it might slip out once the 'honeymoon period' is over. For me its better than Horizon and Bloodborne, so my favourite PS4 game of the gen. I can't see anything beating BOTW for my overall game of the gen though.

It's a different game compared to Horizon and MGSV so I wouldn't feel comfortable ranking it above or below them.

Death Stranding could dethrone BOTW but I've started to worry that game will have issues. At least the trailers are incredible.

I suppose it could, but if its stealth based like MGSV I'll probably give it miss.
