Horizon had zero microtransactions.

Ratchet and Clank had zero microtransactions.

God of War has zero microtransactions.

Detroit seems to not have microtransactions.

Spiderman said they don't have microtransactions.

MLB the show is the only Sony published game to have them and ignoring it because it's a sports game, Sony has gone a long time without microtransactions.

So excluding next years MLB the Show, what will be the next Sony published game to include any form of Microtransactions?

BananaKing

Didn't they remove microtransactions from MLB?

If you can buy them with real money then of course they are... ???

Then I guess microtransactions aren't all bad. Cosmetics are good, even better if you can earn them as well

SWORDF1SH

Doesn't Uncharted 4 have microtransactions?

Well of course not. Its just that they've mostly become bad now due to publishers exploiting the amount of money they can get from them.

If its just straight up buying cosmetic items then I'm fine with that. If you can't choose what you're buying, and its a luck based system (loot boxes) then that's a problem. Its a problem if you can spend any money on items which aren't purely cosmetic. And its a huge problem when these two things are combined (looks at Battlefront 2).

Last of Us had them last gen and at launch on PS4. Both cosmetic and premium pay to win types in MP. Hell, I don't think I have ever seen the meta and core gameplay of a MP title shift so greatly due to DLC as I saw with Last of Us, which was a shame because the MP was fudgy phenomenal.

IIRC Killzone 6 has it, though they added an option to buy the microtransactions with in game currency as well. Probably more I can't think of right now.

Naughty Dog likes microtransactions. For a great studio they can be stupid with mp.

Killzone Shadow Fall had them, LBP3 had them, Driveclub had them, etc. The interesting thing is that outside of MLB the show, their last game with microtransactions was in 2016.  While Microsoft and even Nintendo are increasing their microtransactions, Sony has done a 180 and now don't use them. Which is awesome!

So how long will this last?

That can't be right because a friend of mine was barking about the golf game they released last year IIRC and how it had microtransactions. They also released Lost Legacy or whatever the Uncharted spin off was and it has the same microtransactions since it's the same multiplayer.

I think their lack of microtransactions has more to do with lack of games where they make sense than any sort of stance or policy regarding them. I mean after UC4 in 2016 they really haven't had anything since where they'd make a lot of sense except the MLB games.

I think once their big MP games start coming again, you'll see them return.

"Nobody" cares about Everybody's Golf but you're right. So that'd go in with MLB the show as a sports game although maybe that classification is a bit generous.

Counting Lost Legacy would be stupid since the MP isn't a new release, as you said.

Studios push microtransactions into everything so that doesn't fully explain it. Forza 7 for example had horrible microtransactions yet Gran Turismo Sport had supposedly none.  Spiderman could easily have microtransactions to buy new outfits.

In my opinion it seems like they're currently trying to be the "classy" guys and use their games to promote the ecosystem. Microtransactions in their games could be rare until their platform stops printing money.
