After it all games sold less than 100k retail.

There are good guys on GAF and elsewhere who deserve to know the truth about what's going on because NeoGAF is trying their best to cover up their corruption. Stumpakopow is the idiot who banned my friend. He deleted a bunch of posts from the NPD thread and has completely silenced any discussion on the subject.

I'm just trying to spread the word at this point because robbing everyone of official data because of their arrogance banning a guy from The NPD Group deserves to be known. Hopefully leakers like Creamsugar can get off that hellhole onto another platform, because that level of incompetence doesn't deserve the ad revenue and notoriety that comes with it.

I agree about this corruption side but GAF is not democratic so it is hard to find a way to complain with mods or head mods.

It doesn't have to be democratic but they can at least show a modicum of respect towards people. You know...treat people like humans instead of trash.

Look at it from NPD George's / NDP Mulcair's point of view. After months of convincing NPD finally gives the go ahead to try someone out posting some official data.  And what do they do? They ban him after three months because "he's an alt."  No other reasoning (he was intelligent and positively contributed to the community), his posts were completely different than mine back in the day, they made ZERO attempt to have any conversation with him where they could ask him what his relationship with me was, no contact with The NPD Group, no anything. Just threw him out (and all of NPD's numbers out) like he was utterly worthless.

Needless to say, he was really upset about the whole ordeal. He rather liked NeoGAF and that was just a complete slap in the face to be isolated like that. So that probably means no more NPD authorization for data, which really, really sucks. Leakers are fine but I really wanted to start a trend to change NPD's stupid corporate policy. Before the management shift they used to be real dicks a year ago harassing me and pressuring me nonstop...what GAF did will just drive them further in that direction again.

And this is just one of so many questionable-at-best moderation choices. Here are two more:

The forum is going downhill fast. This is yet another casualty but because it involves legit data that you guys have been collating, it's important to mention in places that have aggregated it.

No, we've never had to moderate here. The only thing we ban is bots when they sneak by.

Our group is so small and everyone gets along. Really no need for it.

It continues on for like two pages. I got really angry earlier because of how frustrated it's made me.


And yeah ZhugeEx, sorry again about how George treated you that one time. He genuinely didn't know anything about you and bought into that weird hate group that some people on NeoGAF have against you (perhaps propagated by the mods spreading lies again?) As soon as I saw that I set him straight. He apologized, but that was still a stupid move to make assumptions like that.


Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I know you guys might have made fun of me or whatever in the past but I guarantee you any issues or bitchiness on my end were caused by all of the stress and nonsense put on me by The NPD Group. They're far from saints when their management becomes more conservative. In fact, if I had my way we'd end their monopoly permanently and break them up. Such a nasty company at times. Hope Chartz can rise up as a competitor to them at some point.  But NPD was starting to make some progress...oh well.

Yeah we've talked about that a lot! Setting up the database would be easy but setting up useful graphs and charts would take me a lot of time. Maybe in the future, or someone else can help.

I don't think we need graphs and chartz. Maybe we can make it easy to export to power point and users could make their own.

Welcome aqua. I can't believe the mods just banned NPD George like that, he provided such useful data and made the NPD release day a lot more interesting than it was before. I've heard some really bad stories about the mods over on GAF, I was considering making an account there but now I know I definitely won't.

I'm glad we support people who've had trouble there and it makes me happy that this site is run by a group of friends who all want what's best for the forum.

In light of all that's going on, I think a database with graphs/ tables would be really cool to set up. I'd be happy to help with that

To tell you the truth, the way neogaf ratted you really irked me.  Plus like you said, things were changing for the better, and then stupidity happened.  At least here, we generally talk at lengths for giving a ban, and if it was/is justified.  Even on the chertz you can talk to the head mod over a ban and will most likely be entered in a discussion.  Will something happen from it?  Probably not.  But at least you get dialogue.  This entire thing reeks of lack of direction at neogaf.

Yes, as many of you may have read in my post at the top of this page, it's not the first time that the moderation team over at NeoGAF have acted this way. Nor do I expect it to be the last. It's a shame really as I still maintain that NeoGAF is still the best forum to discuss sales data due to the wide spectrum of users and industry figures who post on that board. Although at this point I'm not sure how much longer I can maintain that view point.

I read all of your posts and man, NeoGAF really screwed things up and its relations with the NPD Group. Banning NPD George was already bad enough, but not letting him explain himself is even worse. I bet he's still upset, but tell him that I really appreciated his contributions to the forum.

And yes, GAF's moderation has become rather questionable. On top of the examples you've mentioned, Opiate got demodded because of his links to pedophilia and literally did not give a dang about a member who was a victim of rape. People outside of the forum have also frequently addressed GAF as SJWGAF. The forum has an extreme progressive lean and the mod team bans people who dares refute against SJW/progressive opinions. Members freaked out when Play-Asia called out SJWs for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 not being localized, for instance. When someone created a thread about a game called "BlockLivesMatter", the mods quickly locked the thread.

Anyways, I think that is enough ranting on my part. Welcome to the forum, Aqua. I hope NPD George may someday join, too.
