Last year when I tried to keep track of what was going on with their charts it was just all over the place. I can't remember why but at the time I noted that some of it made little sense. I'm not sure at all how they rank the products. I mean, I wouldn't say don't look at it at all but don't put too much stock into it.

Looks like XBO is overall outselling PS4 right now, but it's shockingly close. It'll have to dominate next week for it to have any chance at winning the month.

Uncharted collection is going to sell so freaking much!

Back to its launch price in Europe!

Very good hold for the PS4. The fact that it didn't have any notable releases for that week, but managed to sell almost 26K is a good sign.

Next week is another big test for ps4 in Japan.  Can it stay closer to 25k than 20k?

It will be a second week in a row without any notable releases.  If it can steady up it will do great for the rest of the year.  

Ethomaz's prediction of 1.5m for the year could actually be close. Personally I'm going for 1.4m but anything around that is great considering its sharing nearly all its notable releases with ps3 and psv.

Regarding amazon the Drake collection is neck and neck with that over priced halo bundle.  If it keeps it up ps4 could well win October.  

I'm expecting the annual fire sale to kick in start of November.

NPD recently released their report on the video games industry at US retail for September 2015. NPD noted that the PlayStation 4 remained the best selling console of the month and number one in software sales. The PlayStation 4 continues to be the cumulative sales leader in the USA with an estimated 9.0 million units sold through to end users.

As mentioned above, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are still tracking higher than the Xbox 360 and PS3. This can be seen in the chart above which compares the first 36 months of sales for each system. (Note: PS4 and XB1 only have 23 months of tracked sales so far). Sales of next generation consoles have been fairly healthy but it is important to keep in mind that at one point last year the PS4 and XB1 were ahead by over 80% where as now the combined lead versus their predecessors is only 40%. Whilst both consoles started off much better than their predecessors I am inclined to agree that they will eventually fall behind at some point in the future and I also believe that this generation will have a total install base that is smaller compared to last gen. That being said I do expect the PS4 and XB1 to have a great holiday season.
