No man's sky has lost a lot of sales going off steamspy. Kinda crazy how many are getting refunds.

How much do you expect VizionEck to sell first month? I know it's pointless since metacritic will be the primary factor, but eh we can still have fun with the question. Also don't worry about hurting my feelings. I've spent hardly anything so even 500 sales lifetime would be enough to make me happy.

NPD Group acquires EEDAR: beefing up gaming industry research - NeoGAF

Two different kinds of game market researchers are getting married. The NPD Group, which releases data on sales in the game industry on a monthly and quarterly basis, has agreed to buy video games research provider EEDAR. The Port Washington, N.Y.-based NPD (which also provides data on many other markets) will beef up its advisory and analysis research on games with the acquisition of EEDAR, which just specializes in games. The goal is to combine the complementary assets and expertise of the two companies to give clients access to a full suite of services covering data, insights, and analytics and create a better environment for innovation to meet the rapidly changing needs of the industry.

The NPD Group, a global provider of information and advisory services, has signed an agreement to acquire EEDAR, a specialist market research and data analysis firm for the video games industry.   Combining the complementary assets and expertise of the two companies will give clients access to a full suite of services covering data, insights, and analytics and facilitate innovation to meet the rapidly changing needs of the industry. NPD began tracking video games in 1988, and is the industry's leading source of retail sales data and consumer insights.  In July 2016, NPD introduced the first tracking service for SKU-level sales data on digital games. EEDAR's proprietary database of video game product metadata spans over 200 million facts and 150,000 titles across console, PC, mobile and online/social titles.  Its GamePulse™ analytics platform is a broadly-adopted analytics portal that incorporates multiple information sourcesfor contextual insights into industry trends and product performance and marketing strategies.   The companies have a history of collaboration, most recently on NPD's new Digital Tracking Service, which is included in GamePulse.  NPD has made its Retail Tracking Service available through GamePulse since 2011.  Current product offerings are expected to remain intact, with collaboration on new products to continue.  EEDAR will remain based in Carlsbad, CA. "With NPD's retail and digital tracking assets, EEDAR's robust data integration and delivery platform, and our combined industry expertise, we will have the insight and information to grow and change with the industry and drive continued global expansion," said Tim Bush, NPD President, Americas Commercial Businesses. "A fundamental goal of EEDAR has always been to improve the quality and speed by which business decisions could be made for game developers and publishers," said Robert Liguori, EEDAR CEO.  "NPD shares this philosophy, and the joining of our resources and passion for this sector will ensure the industry has access to the information it needs as it advances into new platforms and business models." Closing is anticipated in early October, after which EEDAR will operate as EEDAR, an NPD Group Company.

As we move into the business end of the season the new releases keep on coming, with 5 entering the Top 40 this week.

We have another new No1 as Square Enix's 'Deus Ex: Mankind Divided' arrives for Gen 8 consoles and PC. The high watermark for this series is currently 2011's 'Deus Ex: Human Revolution' which had a much stronger week 1, but launched in to a market with close to double the current installed base of the equivalent consoles (PS3/360 vs PS4/Xbox One). Codemasters' 'F1 2016' (-57%) drops to No2 after 1 week at the top and Sony's 'No Man's Sky' (-48%) drops 1 place to No3. EA take the second highest new entry at No5 with 'Madden NFL 17' across Gen 7 & Gen 8. 505 Games celebrate a Top 10 debut for 'Assetto Corsa' on PS4/Xbox One as do Koei Tecmo with 'A.O.T Wings of Freedom' debuting at No10, also PS4/Xbox One. The final new release within the Top 40 is Team 17's 'Worms WMD' at No39. Microsoft's Xbox One 'Quantum Break' is a massive re-entry at No16 thanks to retailer hardware bundle promotions (+623%).
