Double Edit: And MS financials are out already but they are pretty much as expected, they made a ton of money and still are giving hardly any worthwile information on their gaming business. X1 hardware numbers up but revenue down (but I believe there's no reference number for last year anyway, so thaaanks MS), MS game revenue (first party) up 47% thanks to Halo 5 and Minecraft and then something uninteresting about "monthly active Xbox Live users" being up 30% YoY to 48 million, which is likely due to W10 and stuff.

EA say Install base of PS4 and XB1 over 55 million. Up 50% vs prior gen. PS4 is at 35.9m via Sony.

Xb1 is going to become increasingly harder to predict though. 19m wasn't too hard to work out for me but I doubt I can be that accurate in the future. Zhuge is probably the best out of us at tracking data and making predictions, he seems to have predicted about 19m too.

Very good number for xb1 imo, a lot better than most were thinking it could be.

Do you remember how much the XB1 sold in 2014? It sold through 3 million by the end of 2013, so it's possible that the XB1 was flat YOY in 2015. If that's the case, then the US is progressively taking up a larger share of the XB1's sales because it was up YOY in that market.

Whilst yes, I do make a number of forecasts and closely track sales data, this does not mean that I can be any better than anyone else. There is always a chance that I am wrong or off base and at most my forecasts are just educated guesses.

But what I do like to do is base my estimates / forecasts off publicly available data, market research data, manufacturer data etc.... So hopefully any numbers that I do 'estimate' or 'forecast' should be fairly accurate.

For example, here is the forecast for CY2015 I created before the end of the year which has PS4 at over 37m sold in and XB1 at over 20m sold in. Which would agree with the sell through estimates that EA put out.
