So we may have a clue on how many XB1's were sold to consumers. From this video, Mary Jo Foley said that 18 million of 200 million Windows activations were XB1's (unfortunately, I don't have a timestamp for that).

So we can conclude that the XB1 sold through at least 18 million. This makes sense because it is above the 360's shipments of the same point last gen (17.7 million). As a result, the ratio between the PS4 and XB1 is almost exactly 2 to 1.

Zhuge, do you have any idea how much the XB1 sold in 2014? MS did say that it sold through 3 million by the beginning of 2014, but has since stopped reporting sold through numbers.

Considering halo is out and Microsofts lack of a compelling future line up,  along with Sony having a great line up and it's big guns still to come,  the gap is going to get increasingly big.

This adds up with the absolute minimum I worked out a couple of days back.

People ask me, how much do you think Xbox One has sold through? Hard to say, my GUESSTIMATE is >18m. But it's rough estimate. not fact.

So here is what you need to know about the 18 million number.

1. It is from an unverified source
2. It is trusted by Mary Jo Foley who is a trusted analyst who doesn't usually report incorrect information.
3. It is the number of active Xbox One's running Windows 10.
4. Microsoft force updated all users to W10 I believe this number should include all active Xbox One users
5. The official definition of this 'around 18 million' is active devices used at least once in the last 28 days.

Probably because they are paid shills for MS. It's the only thing I can think of. And he lies a lot. He'd like nothing more than to mow Sony down, But they realized that money isn't going to do it anymore and they'll have to take a different approach. Xbox is about survival now.
