Yeah, looks like MS gave up on winning the holidays in the US and are instead focusing on making money and still doing well in the US. Not a bad decision, the race for first is over anyway there's no dramatic comeback happening this gen.

Abdiel's latest assessment supports my hypothesis that Halo 5 will establish its legs much later compared to its predecessors. We're almost a week after BO3's launch and Halo 5 hasn't recovered from BO3's impact. Battlefront is coming up very soon, which will also hamper Halo 5's legs.

I don't think Halo 5 will have legz without bundles... everybody wanted it already brought it.

It also doesn't help that the bundle is limited and yet, it still hasn't sold out. I checked the user ratings on Amazon last week and it had a 2.8/5 rating. Just checked it now to see if the positive reviews would eventually outnumber the negative ones and the average has not changed one bit. That's a huge drop from Halo 3 (4.3/5), Halo Reach (4.4/5), and Halo 4's (4.4/5) ratings.

They'll still make tons of money on the game and maybe they'll learn from the negative feedback. I can already see the return of splitscreen as a "huge" reveal for Halo at E3 2017 which is going to make some people scream MS "won" E3 all on its own...oh how the hype machine works.

But jeez, 4 versions of the PS4 in the top 20 version only one version of the X1 in the top 40 on Amazon.com, the PS4 must be outselling the X1 by a crazy amount on there at the moment. The Fallout bundle is the only thing that can somewhat compete, that really should have been a special edition console.

so sony's black friday bundle deal wont be with the starwars bundle? such a shame, that starwars bundle for 299$ would have been MASSIVE on black friday.

The only reason they're even doing the 300 price point is because they're using a game that doesn't cost them anything (NDC) which is no different than a 350 with a third party game.

And that is why Sony were smart not to react to the firesales last year.  They'd have lost a ton of revenue and profit and the end result would have been the same.  They can do no wrong this gen.

Add destiny to that list.  A lot of Halo fans on xbox and ps are now playing that.

Halo would have been better releasing in August.

Dragon Quest Metal Slime Edition PS Vita announced for Japan - Gematsu

So vita is getting a special edition for dragon quest builders.  This game was already likely to get great sales and push hardware like minecraft has and maybe even more but with a special edition console the first week bump could be big.

With the 3DS coming into the twilight zone the vita really could shine for the next 12 months.

And a few months later vita gets dragon quest heroes 2 so between them both a large portion of the massive dragon quest fanbase could be convinced to get a Vita.

And building momentum for vita in Japan is Crucial for Sony as it tries to sell vita/ps4 as the go to platform for 3Rd parties.

There's no more momentum to be build for the Vita, even in Japan.

There was no merit to the idea of Sony having to react to that anyway, it was just people trying to spin the situation out of proportion.

Adding Black Ops 3 to the Battlefront bundle would also be a good idea. Consumers can get the ultimate multiplayer shooter package.

E3 2017 is quite late, though. The XBO is already pretty dead outside of the US and UK. Will it still be viable in those markets by then? ???

NeoGAF - View Single Post -  October 2015 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes November 10th

My prediction about the Halo 5 LE Bundle is...
 200-300k NPD
 300-400k WW * about 100k outside US *
The range I added because the bundle didn't get sold out... so they sold less then they expected... it it was sold then my prediction was the high number.

This, we still have plenty of Halo bundles in stock from launch that went unsold.  Most hardcore Halo fans have already bought an XB1 and played the crud out of it.  There's no doubt that the game will be on top of the charts, or very close to it, but it didn't appear to push much hardware.
A couple anecdotal notes responding to some of the posts over the past couple days:
 - Battlefront not pushing much hardware?  You do realize this is STAR WARS game when there is incredible hype about the movie coming out and it's the holiday season the bundles just give extra incentive for consumers to purchase a PS4 with a Star Wars game included.  Just think about the customer base; where a parent will not buy a CoD game for a adolescent child because of war/gun violance, they will definately by a Star Wars game with lasers and "fantasy violance."  they are playing the nastalgia card perfectly with this game. This will play big with with no real price war this holiday season.  a customer really wanted a PS4 this past weekend and didn't want to buy the last BO bundle and opted to wait for BF bundle on Tuesday instead, lol.
I mean, look at the extra marketing Sony and EA are puting into this game: (which kind of pisses me off being a huge Tales fan, that Zestiria couldn't even get a trailer on their store retail loop)
 This stuff is massive!//
(The poor quality is my buddies fault I'm at my other job, so I had him take them for me)
 - Sony sent a TON of bundles to sell at WM, and that will help since we have been constantly sold out since the price drop.  BO3 1TB bundles from last week went really fast even at $429..  (Would be interested to see if the other retailers are getting a bunch these as well)
 - Dinsney Infinity (Star Wars edition) PS4 bundles come out tomorrow to lead right into the BF3 launch on Tuesday, tey will be sold out over the weekend on last minute lay-aways no doubt...
 Personal thought:
I could see MS pulling another "temporary" price drop in Dec. if they do not "win" Black Friday" like last year.  I mean, who knows how much money they lost last year from giving away so much to win Nov./Dec.  Also, the GoW 500GB white bundle is scanning for $329 already, so....
Just random musings, please carry on.  I totally forgot to put my numbers up again this month.. but for fun:
 (PS4) 470K
 (XB1) 385K
 (3DS) 105K
 (WIU) 75K
and yeah, I'm even surprised at this Star Wars hype.  The toys are selling like crazy too.
