Quote from: the-Pi-guy on Jun 08, 2017, 01:32 AMThere are store demos to play.  Honestly those two hour "demos" will blow away most games.

None of the stores I went to (Best Buy, Frys and Micro Center) dont have a single VR demo lol - not even a Switch demo.

Not even a GearVR?  :o

Honestly VR is one of those things where the hype is worth it.  It's really flipping amazing, it just needs more solid games.

Its not, but its also not VR required either.

Thats like saying I should buy a Nintendo Switch just for Zelda BotW when I just saved myself $300+ dollars and bought it on my WiiU.

I wouldnt buy RE7 for VR.

That isnt a justifiable reason for me to invest on VR.

If I can play a game normally with regular hardware, there's no point in getting a VR headset for it.

Oh trust me, there can be.

VR is makes games have a completely different feel. For example Thumper in 2D is whatever, but in VR it's one of the best experiences out there.

I dont care about "feeling" a game or experiencing its immersion in a full view. I'd rather lay back on my bed while playing with a controller plugged to my console or my laptop that is connected to my HDTV or Monitor.

Graphics dont mean anything for me either which is why I still have a OG PS4 and not the PS4 Pro. Same reasoning with the 3DS and not the "New" 3DS.

There's no point in getting any of these new pieces of hardware if I can already achieve the goal of why I bought a certain platform - which is to play games :p

Whats different about GearVR than anything else?

Just the hardware? Thats pretty pointless to me.

Software is what I look at when it comes to gaming.

Like you said, it needs more "Solid" games.

At the moment, there's nothing worth software wise to invest in VR. You cant drop names of games that are already playable normally either because I can just play those games normally.

You really don't seem to understand VR.

It's like the difference between a comic book and a movie. The increase in immersion is so extreme that it stops being comparable to the original version. Totally OK for you to dislike VR, just like lots of people dislike movies, but it's wrong to think of it as just an "upgraded" experience.

But thats just the thing. I dont care about immersion when I play games.

I play games just to play games, not to be immersed.

The only way I would get enticed into getting into VR is if there are any worthwhile games that are solely made for VR and ONLY for VR.

At this point in time, there arent any games worthwhile just to purchase a VR headset for. I dont expect that to change anytime soon either if ever.

It doesn't really sound like you'd be a fan of VR, but you shouldn't keep thinking of it as just being more immersive.

VR is practically its own medium.

Lands End was an ok puzzle game for GearVR. It and Job Simulator are the only VR games I've bought.

COD VR is absolutely incredible and I hope they make it into a full game but that seems very very unlikely.

A medium that uses games that already exist part of another medium or a bunch of 2-3 hour VR exclusive "experiences".

Its not worth it for me. I dont see much value in it.

I didnt buy a Vita despite it having a few exclusive games, why would I invest in VR which doesnt even a single exclusive worth getting for by itself.

Well now that I know you didn't buy a Vita, this conversation is a lost cause!

That system was wonderful.

lol

Yeah, kinda regret not buying it especially when the 1000 series was only $50 new at best buy when I was working there back in 2013.

Though thankfully majority of the games I wanted on Vita came out on PS4 and PC - there's just only like two games I wanted that havent come out on any other platform yet.

Kerotan

Hopefully a price cut announced too.  Anyway good to hear there's more being announced.

Uncharted, Resistance (multiplayer was good actually), Escape Plan, LittleBigPlanet Vita (by far the best in the series), Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Tales From Space, Sound Shapes, Super Stardust, Wipeout, Killzone, Thomas Was Alone, Frobisher Says, PSASBR, and Uncharted Fight for Fortune were all fun games that I played on the system.

Sure PS4 has a lot of larger games, but I actually think atm I prefer the Vita lineup. Plus there was Assassin's Creed Liberation, Freedom Fighters, and Murasaki Babi that I wanted to play but haven't yet.
