Probably the same way the complete removal of backwards compatibility affected PS3 sales. It didn't.

Has to be said that beta is beta, this stuff happens

Agreed.  The point is to have this shame happen now so it doesn't on launch day. Worked for battlefront so I hope it works for this.

Regardless I never played uncharted online apart from when I was getting the trophies for U2 and U3. The coop actually seemed fun.

So I'll likely not play this online much except to get the trophies.  If there's online coop missions I'll definitely look forward to them.  Uncharted has always been about single player for me.

Generally I'd agree about this beta stuff, but this one was locked behind a game purchase and unlike 3 other big recent betas (Battlefront, Cod outside of Germany and SFV) this one actually needs PS+ as well. So with those entry barriers in place I at least expect to be able to play the dang thing. But again, it wasn't supposed tp go up till today anyway and I haven't tried with the latest patch so I'm not passing judgement yet.

Regarding the emulation stuff, god dang nabbit Dark Cloud even is a game I still own T.T

Yeah paid betas are a really crummy idea. Some compensation system needs to become standard if the beta can't be played, which is just stupid in the first place.

But if this Dark Cloud emulation thing hints at Dark Cloud 3 being in development then I'll be ecstatic.

PSX I say, tomorrow baby. :D

Have gotten a couple matches in UC4 in now btw. My impressions are that the core gameplay is definitely very good, it controls well, framerate has been stable for me, aiming works well, but I think mysticals and especially sidekicks are definitely overused at the moment, I think both of those things should start out significantly more expensive.

But I'm hopeful.

I actually meant the sales of these re-releases.  Not hardware.

I don't see why it would make them worse..if anything it'll make them better, lol.

I will be interested in buying:

-PS2 games i never played/bought
-PS2 games I bought but sold in my teen years (scrapping for money..)
-PS2 games I still have and like so much (not all of them) that the promise of trophies and uprendering are enticing enough to make me pay

Gaf already losing their shame about the PS4 emulation thing, I mean I'm disappointed as well but they are acting as if Sony is obligated to give them graphically upgraded versions of their PS2 games with trophy support that also utilize other capabilities of the PS4 for free or that if they don't do that then they are being greedy. Sorry but the simple fact is that, if improvements are going to be as significant as with the 3 Star Wars games then no, they are not trying to make you pay for the exact same game you already own again, they are essentially asking you to pay for "remasters" of these PS2 games for your PS4.

Like I said, I would have loved it if those games were free if you already owned them, but some people are acting as if Sony are greedy scumbags for not giving people these games for free.

How many people actually have ps2 disk anyway. So it's likely that only effects a small portion of ps4 owners. I think they are more pissed that they can't just get a second hand disk and play the games cheaply that way. Besides what are these things going to cost? 10 bucks at most?

The only way i can see getting upset is not letting you get the ps4 version of a classic you already have digitally on ps3. That needs to be look into even if it's a small upgrade fee.

Both graphics updates and PS4 feature support like shareplay should be built into the emulator. That takes practically zero work per game.

If there's no retroactive cross buy with PS2 classics, then it's definitely greedy. Consumers expect digital games to be future compatible forever, and Sony themselves fueled this expectation by making almost all digital PS4/Vita ports free to existing owners. I can play Journey, Sound Shapes, Escape Plan, Flower, The Unfinished Swan, FEZ, etc. on PS4 even though I bought the games on PS3. PS3 to PS4 ports with fully upgraded graphics and gameplay are free, yet PS2 emulation with added trophies should cost money? That's ludicrous!

Plus Sony doesn't exist in a bubble. Microsoft just released 360 BC on XBO and it's 100% free for both digital and physical games. Sony looks super greedy in comparison.

Feels so much like a scene from James Bond.
