Bugs suck but it would be weird if the portals didn't just lead to other locations on the map in this case. Otherwise the scenes would be overlaping.

They are conflating being in the same scene as being in the same memory space.  

They are assuming that everything in a level is loaded into memory. The active streaming that happens while you are walking somewhere seems to continue to get lost on people.

If he's right then probably best to lower expectations for the show if an acquisition announcement is the main surprise. It would probably be with their next game, but I don't find a Bluepoint remake to be the most exciting kind of announcement.
